What kind of pen do you use?

Post by DonutHole »

The title might infer cheekiness... lol. Not my intention.

What kind of pen do you use?

I rock a fisher in the field and a Kaweco in the book.

Not my image

I got a pair of these huge snap on "nipple clamps" with the simple purchase of a 700 dollar matching green set of regular pliers.

When I got to management I figured I'd make the new guys help me pee with these things (as a display of dominance... get your mind out of the gutter) but looking at the talent pool, if I ever get there, I'll stick to using them myself.

Zebra makes nice pens. I always like to have an expensive or unique, or expensive and unique pen so people don't jack them.

I flew with one guy who explained that he got a gross of Parker pens at some point but having lost the rest he's down to his last one so he keeps a really sharp eye on it as he doesn't want to lose it.

I stole it about 3 minutes later. It's really nice.

Jetstream pens from Staples!!! HELL YEAH! Made by uniball. Get black 1.0mm. They are seriously the best bang for the buck.

Uni 0.5mm. The only time smaller balls are better.... 1.0mm might as well be a Jiffy Marker in comparison...

I make a point of stealing whatever pen I find laying on the radio panel during my visits to the cockpit - usually a papermate. I won't touch anything fancy. I hand them out to whatever mechanic might need them that day - someone is always needing one. Pilot`s have pocketed many an Engineer`s screwdriver over the years, so I figure this is just being fair.

Women and planes have alot in common
Both are expensive, loud, and noisy.
However, when handled properly both respond well and provide great pleasure

lol. Ive literally bought my freedom with a good pen.

at any rate, maybe a bit of a drift.

We all have quirks, those things we need to be just so. As mechanics, I suspect many of our toolboxes are 'just so'

What other things do you need 'just so'in your life? My toolbox has to be perfect and my pen has to be adequate...

what guilty pleasures, nice things, rituals, get you through your day happy?

Coffee... and lots of it.

Related to the pen is fanatically neat tech logs. My journey log entries look like something a toddler would have scrawled... and my personal log is better but not by much. But my tech logs make the Magna Carta look like it was haphazardly written... thanks in part to a 0.5mm pen and a lot of free time to hand write all of the entries....

All my logs look like they were filled by a toddler, who was drunk, while riding a hard tail motorcycle over the worst kept road in siberia, while being mauled by a wolf, and hopped up on chocolate covered coffee beans, red bull, and crystal meth.
