I doubt that the TA details nor the debate can be bottled up. But that is up to the ACPA pilots.
Good luck.

$10,000 x 3000 pilots = $30,000,000 (that's $30 million???? unless my calculator is on the frit$$)sstaurus wrote:$10k signing bonus? Why? I must be missing something here...
Take it, run, hide don't tell anybody

Re: 10 year agreement with pilots

900 hour pay annual guarantee for 2014/2015/2016.
While this has the appearance of a lopsided deal, I highly doubt that Calin suddenly decided to empty the vault without getting value in return.
Keep watching, the show is just beginning.
Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
I for sure will believe that CR knows what he's doing. And I wish all the best to AC pilots, truly.
question is why such a deal all of a sudden ?
I'm also genuinely curious to know what is about to begin

Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
So every current pilot gets 10k in December? Would a new hire get this as well? Just don't understand it.
Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
Rudder, thanks for posting.
Well done AC pilots. I am curious why the company wanted to open the agreement and why it is all of a sudden so generous.

Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
The company gets a stable workforce for 10 years and can get better financing on jets. From what I'm told.

- pilot labour stabilityBede wrote:I am curious why the company wanted to open the agreement and why it is all of a sudden so generous.
- pilot cost certainty and partial avoidance of compounding by paying lump sums
- template for pattern bargaining with other AC unions
- ability to substitute aircraft at Rouge
- ability to implement AC Express fleet plan
- ability to implement JV and codeshare plan
Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
I'd think labour stability = $$$$ and everything else rudder said.

This is a great sign for the future of a career at Air Canada for everyone.

Don't be blinded by the signing bonus. There are some details coming to light that seem to indicate this may not be quite as good a deal as some think. Lots of questions still left to be answered.....

That should make a lot of people's ex-wives very happy!Lemon wrote:So every current pilot gets 10k in December? Would a new hire get this as well? Just don't understand it.

Really? There are no concessions here...do the improvements meet everybody's expectations? No...will they ever? No.bcflyer wrote:Don't be blinded by the signing bonus. This is the best contract we've seen in years...no contract will ever satisfy every group but all in all this is a huge leap forward!
Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
This is good news for us folks swimming in the pool for the last couple years. Sounds like hiring will spool up soon enough and the nice welcome gift of 10k won't hurt. It sure is nice to see a positive contract for a change, although it not all out in the air yet, it sure looks promising.
Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
Could this be upper management realizing their pockets are getting pretty full, and the working staff are tired of it?
Makes sense, if the folks working hard are bringing in record profit, they deserve a slice of the pie!

Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
AC is being proactive and looking into the future realizing there is a pilot shortage coming and looking to lock in labour costs at good conditions now. However, in 5+ years from demand may outweigh the supply.
Re: 10 year agreement with pilots
Labour stability is expensive.
Try going to the bank and securing a 10 year mortgage.....it will cost you dearly.
Labour stability is paramount to the plan moving forward.
The $10,000 "signing bonus" is not properly named, and should never have called such. It is part of an old code share grievance that was settled as part of this agreement. The real value of the code share grievance will never be known. My bet is this "signing bonus" was very nearly cost neutral.
Given the volitility of the industry, personally, I'm not convinced that 2016 will secure anything better..........in fact I'm convinced it will not, so barring any "ugliness" that may yet rise when the details are released, I'm leaning towards a definite "yes".
DP.
