Transwest Air

Post by mike92 »

Hi, I'd like to know what it looks like with transwest air for those who are doing ramp. How long is the wait before getting a flying job with them for someone with multi-ifr. Also, usually what are the aircraft that people start flying? Is it mainly the navajo or it happen often that it's a bigger airplane (king air, b1900, etc)

You can send me a PM

Hey!

I spent some time with Transwest, and have no complaints about it! They treated me great!

I didn't start on the ramp, but did see a few guys move into airplanes, usually after spending about a year working on either the ramp or the dock. You'll move up into the right seat of the Twin Otter or Navajo, or if you're especially lucky into the King Air (but that's usually pretty rare).

All the best!

Getting hired now as opposed to in the spring I'd almost guarantee that you are looking at an entire winter season on the ramp for sure. I think most of their business expands in the summer with all the float and forestry work. You'd be well positioned for the spring hiring for flying up north if you started now and put in some good hard work over the winter.

This isn't typically the time companies in MB, and SK hire so if you got a foot in the door now, I'd take it. AB oil patch flying starts up soon but hour BS requirements are higher here...
