Has anyone here ever been charged with failing to produce a radio license?

If you were what was the penalty?

Being an industry canada item, would they have trouble enforcing it because of this?

I have no idea, because the only one who ever asked to see my radio license was one of my chief flying instructors.

And he was in no position to penalize me when I told him what he could do to himself.

My radio licence paper was worn out a few years ago.
I had a new one sent at no charges (if I remember correctly) the following week via this address, after contacting them.

I taped it on the last page of my aviation pilot's license booklet.

Never heard of anyone being dinged for it. The whole booklet thing should make it moot shouldn't it? How can you get a booklet and not be grandfathered in with the radio license? How could you hold a private or commercial license without ever having had one? More stupid regulations...

AFAIK, TC doesn't have any authority to ask for or fine you for not having a radio license. Industry Canada is the issuing agency is the agency responsible for enforcing anything related to that.

I've never heard of anyone getting dinged for not having a radio license certificate with them. I think it would only come into play if there was an accident or an investigation into an incident. Otherwise, it has been working well so far and there's no need to change anything.

i just found one of my old ATPL licenses from the sixties, the one with the green diagonal stripe on it...and on the back of the license is my radio operators license printed in red.

Now I can live free of fear of being caught without the radio license.

I'm just happy to know it was printed on the license once but, now we can't have it printed on a page in the fancy book.

That is a very good point. I remember it being a red stamp on one of old licenses, or printed on.

I carry mine with my licence and other membership junk. I made a photocopies just in case.....

You do not need a Radio License to operate an aircraft. You should have a radio licence to operate the radio in the aircraft.

Does anyone remember needing to get radio licenses to operate a remote controlled toy and citizens band?

The radio License thing is really stupid.
When you start flying , the School requires you to apply for the radio License.
When you aquire a cell phone, the provider charges a fee for the same thing.
I argued that I have one already so please void the fee but the Cell Phone Provider refused.
The radio license is a pure money grab period. Nobody enforces it and would have very little success if they did.
Just another bullshit fee that has been forced upon aviation .
Along the same lines as the Nav Canada fee > there are many pilots that do not use Nav Canada Services but they
are required to pay a fee by law.

Uhhh no. Radios are the domain of Industry Canada and have licensing for all sorts of radios. Amateur Band, Maritime, Air Band, etc. Pilots are not the only people who have to test and pay for radio licenses. And there is often a good reason for it. Don't like it? Stay NORDO or use only bands that IC does not require licensing for like Citizen Band, Family Band, VHF or UHF industrial radios, cell phones, Kids Walkie-Talkies, or 2 papercups attached by a string.

What are the consequences of someone using a radio without one ?.....zip nada zilch
Nobody gets refused a radio licencse.
Anybody can buy a radio and start using it without one
As I said totally useless and uncontrollable

After 40 years of flying, I had to recently call Industry Canada and get
a replacement. It arrived in two days.

A radio Licence is redundant, operating an aircraft radio
in an Aircraft should be limited part of a pre solo exam.
