Greetings from YYT.
Some of you may be familiar with the Crows Nest club in downtown St.John's. Perhaps you dropped in for a pint on a layover. The Crows Nest just celebrated its 75th anniversary and is still going strong with record membership in spite of Covid. We actually just reopened on November 6th with limited hours and Covid restrictions in place. So drop in again when you get a chance.
(For those unfamiliar with the club it was opened in January 1942 as a retreat for seagoing officers engaged in North Atlantic convoy operations. It is now a museum with a bar, you might say, and the walls are filled with memorabilia such as gun shield art straight from the ships involved in the Battle of the Atlantic.)
We (I am on the BOD and retired from aviation 3 years ago) have recently produced a 32 minute documentary on the history of the club and it will be digitally released on November 10th at 1400 Newfoundland time, 1230 Eastern. You can watch it on Youtube or via the club facebook page or website. Marking Remembrance Day this year won't be easy and this is one way to do it. There is a trailer and the link is below. I hope you get a chance to view the film and my best wishes to all of you in what must be a far more difficult time than I ever had to face.

Aren’t crews, essential workers I might add, forced to stay in their hotel rooms?

Yep. No going to the Crows Nest or anywhere else right now.Torontomaplelaughs wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 7:58 pm Aren’t crews, essential workers I might add, forced to stay in their hotel rooms?

Shipiskan, thanks for sharing the video. Been a few years since I've been in YYT - and will likely be quite a few more before I visit again - so I wasn't aware of the anniversary. The trailer looks great and I'll be looking forward to seeing the full doc tomorrow.shipiskan wrote: ↑Sat Nov 07, 2020 7:53 am Greetings from YYT.
