Conversion EASA -> FAA -> TC

Post by tupues »

Hi all,

Has anyone got experience with conversion of a FAA license which itself is converted from an EASA license?
I am in the process of converting my EASA ATPL to an FAA ATP and was wondering if I then can convert that one to its TC equivalent.

The things that throws me off slightly is:
1.2 Applicability
(1) This document applies to holders of FAA airman certificates – airplane category at the private, commercial, or airline transport pilot levels.
(2) Holders of a FAA airman certificate issued on the basis of another foreign pilot licence are not eligible for conversion under this agreement.
from here:

https://tc.canada.ca/en/aviation/refere ... no-401-001

I am not too sure whether this would actually be applicable though, since effectively I will be obtaining a full unrestricted FAA-ATP and not a license based on my foreign license.

Many thanks for any help,

Cheers, Tom

That restriction applies to US pilot certificates issued in pursuance of 14 CFR 61.75. These certificates can be identified by the term "foreign based" in section IX.
