It goes to show that in order to make $3.3 million, you need to spend $13.4 million.Stratopaused wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 8:51 pm Absolutely brutal financial results: https://skiesmag.com/press-releases/can ... l-results/

Yep, it’s not what it seems on its face I think, they don’t operate much and they’re publicly traded on the neo exchange….Stratopaused wrote: ↑Fri Mar 31, 2023 8:51 pm Absolutely brutal financial results: https://skiesmag.com/press-releases/can ... l-results/

Re: Canada Jetlines
Not in an A320 they ain't. This should be interesting. In March, Canada Jetlines announced it was in discussion with Qatar Airways for a potential codeshare agreement where Canada Jetlines would provide service between Toronto and Doha
Re: Canada Jetlines
If you look at FR24 and look at the flight history for both planes, take a look at the flight numbers, and you'll see, Jetlines has barely been operating there own flights and has been mainly doing flights for Sunwing, and now most recently, their competition, Flair... go figure, how ironic
Re: Canada Jetlines
Via codeshare, they would put their flight number on a Qatar flight, common practice.Chaxterium wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 7:52 amNot in an A320 they ain't. Re: Canada Jetlines
I know what codeshares are. But the article implies that the flight would be operated by Canada Jetlines. Not through a codeshare. But directly operated by a Canada Jetlines crew in a Canada Jetlines aircraft.
Re: Canada Jetlines
The funny thing about the English language, you read it one way and I read it another way, I used logic, they are not providing service to Doha on a 320, they didn’t announce or even hint about bigger aircraft therefore, they are offering the Qatar network via a codeshare.Chaxterium wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 9:22 amI know what codeshares are. Maybe ask them via their website what they meant, I’m certain they meant via codeshare

Re: Canada Jetlines
Totally agree. Logic would dictate a codeshare. But then I feel the article would have explicitly stated "operate through a codeshare". But it didn't. Which lead me to my interpretation.cdnavater wrote: ↑Sat Apr 01, 2023 9:59 am The funny thing about the English language, you read it one way and I read it another way, I used logic, they are not providing service to Doha on a 320, they didn’t announce or even hint about bigger aircraft therefore, they are offering the Qatar network via a codeshare.

Even they do plan on operated those flights themselves that would be one hell of a tall order. The kind of machine that can do 12.5 hours in the air with reserves isn't going to come cheap!

It does say codeshare though even if poorly wordedIn March, Canada Jetlines announced it was in discussion with Qatar Airways for a potential codeshare agreement where Canada Jetlines would provide service between Toronto and Doha

Re: Canada Jetlines
Why would Qatar sign a codeshare with them? Nothing against Jetlines but it is a very small company with 2 tails. I don't think that there are so many passengers who would book flights to Doha. Qatar is a standalone name. Whoever travels to Doha or has connecting flights is aware of Qatar Airways. Why would you book a flight to Doha through Jetlines instead of just booking it on Qatar's website with Oneworld miles?
Don't even know how passengers who are traveling with Qatar would benefit from Jetlines? There aren't so many who travel from Doha to Toronto just to go to Cuba or the Dominican.

Re: Canada Jetlines
Not entirely sure but one of the Qatar Airways board members, Rossen Dimitrov, is now on the Jetlines' board as well.

Re: Canada Jetlines
I think return spring 2023 will pass, maybe he meant 2024?"We will be back into Calgary probably in the spring or fall of 2023," said Bureau, though he says that depends on the airline's ability to add new aircraft to its fleet.
Canada Jetlines currently has two Airbus A320s — an all-economy jet with 174 seats. Bureau says the plan is still to fly 15 aircraft by 2025.
So given the timeline, they are planning 15 aircraft next year? Seems ambitious given no foundation of a network, nor solid ACMI contracts. And, switch to Boeing? Or have mixed fleet? Seems like the Ponzi scheme airline doesn't know what it wants to do yet. Still. After a decadeCanada Jetlines recently ordered five brand new 737 MAX 7 planes from Boeing.

In a previous version of this story, an aviation analyst incorrectly said Canada Jetlines made an order for five Boeing aircraft. In fact, the company that made that order was a previous iteration of Canada Jetlines and the current airline did not make an order with Boeing.

I’d does all seem very shady, likely a shell company for crafty accounting . The shareholders have definitely shown a lack of interest @ $0.205/share lol330heavy wrote: ↑Tue Apr 04, 2023 8:09 amI think return spring 2023 will pass, maybe he meant 2024?"We will be back into Calgary probably in the spring or fall of 2023," said Bureau, though he says that depends on the airline's ability to add new aircraft to its fleet.

Re: Canada Jetlines
I wonder if it is mandatory for them to take their aircraft they have leased. Maybe if one got a great deal a couple of years ago on leasing rates, you just sublease the aircraft at 50% higher rate. Or have something worked out with the leasing company that would be happy to lease them elsewhere while rates are high.
