Psa 49:13 Here is what happens to fools and to those who trust the words of fools:
Psa 49:14 They are like sheep with death as their shepherd, leading them to the grave. In the morning God's people will walk all over them, as their bodies lie rotting in their home, the grave.

Those aren't very nice passages to quote about that poor girl. Somebody had better get to her before they start handing out the Kool-Aid.

cc, you're way off base.
w squared will never be respectful to you because he looks down on Christians. And I don't see how that Psalm which is about confidence in God rather than in riches, has anything to do with w squared's video.

I'm sorry that you've misunderstood me so badly, Chantal. I have no problem with Christians. There are a number of posters on this board that are open about the strength of their faith, and I have a lot of respect for them. Likewise, I do not judge people based simply on the fact that they have faith.

What I do object to are those that are rabidly evangelical, or those that are so blinded by the dogma spouted by their denomination of choice that they abandon all logical thought.

I detest those that insist on spouting dogma when they have been asked to cease and desist.

Above all, I loathe the misguided individuals that view their belief system as a license to spread hate about those who do not share their point of view.

CC. There is a saying that I am sure you are familiar with. Actions speak louder than words. While I appreciate your ferver, I also am turned off by the constant spouting of scripture when not asked. You need to remember one catches more flies with honey than vinegar. Yes I am a christian but I try to live my life in such away that peole will be interested in why Im different and then if they say OK I tell them. Every time you attach your Koran writting at the end of your post you attack the muslim faith. That in my books is not what christianity nor Christ is about. I think you need to sit down and seriously consider are you doing more damage than good. You see it all the time with TV preachers. Here's hoping your walk equals your talk.

CC: I'm not going to bother replying to your post, since you obviously didn't bother to read the post of mine that you quoted. This doesn't surprise me.

Flaps: Your particular way of looking at the matter of faith is exactly what I was talking about. I respect both the fact that you have have faith, and the fact that you are sufficently strong in it that you feel no need to crow about it non-stop. While my ideas about a higher conciousness probably don't match yours, I will absolutely support your right to hold those views, and worship accordingly. The only exception to that is those faiths and those "faithful" that do harm to other people...be it through actions or the preaching of dogma.

I fully support someone looking for for an almighty supreme being if that is what they choose to do but if you're going to tell me that you have actually found one I would appreciate some specifics. Could someone rational please fill in the blanks:

-what is it made of

-what created this thing

-how long has it been around

-are we it's play things

-are there any other supreme beings out there or is this the only one that you know of

-have you thought to consider any other possible explanations to our existence besides a supernatural supreme being?

-are you still looking for answers to our collective knowledge or have you given up and are just sticking with the god thing

Clouded Counter
My thought is that when the staunch religious come into contact with the world that is ambiviliant about religion it is a huge culture shock. The religious will happily tell you that god is life, by this they really mean god is thier life.
From birth the indoctrination begins and the person's life becomes the religion. When these people grow up and it becomes nessasry to step out into the bigger world they are flabergasted that there are unbelievers. At this point the reliigous is capable of higher level rational thought that enables them to understand that yes my religion is based on sheep herders camp fire stories and that the history (not the scripture) has been one of war and suffering for mankind. That man's knowledge of self and world is so much advanced in the 21 century that 'maybe' just maybe the book is not a verbatum screen through which to view life.

All this however they cannot and will-not do. It requires them admitting they were wrong, they're entire lives would change, they would need to become self confident and accept the grand accident that is life. They would need to set there own compass and live a life of inculsion rather than excullsion.
There minds are closed tight. They do not accept new information, and it is understandable, it would take a strong individual to throw off there 'god worship lives' and build a new one based on free thought and rational thinking. Most people don't have the strengh to do this, so the weak stay the course of there gods because it is easier to do than wake up think for themselves.

CC, standing on top of your book, rattling off garbage condemning non deciphles. I say think for self, reach for your own understanding of man, be self assurded in yourself and reach your potentail as a free thinking man of your own making. Stop the ignorance and agrogance, you have no answers , you're a joke.

Meatloaf, that's the BEST place to read! Yes, it counts.

CC is going to go to hell for humility. Think of him stoking with all those others who think they know the only way to live a life. Somebody I knew called them god-botherers. Makes me just a little happier to imagine that he'll be amongst like-minded people.

Hey I just got religion!

"It was time for Father John's Saturday night bath, and
the young nun, Sister Magdalene, had prepared the bath
water and towels just the way the old nun had
instructed. Sister Magdalene was also instructed not to
look at Father John's nakedness if she could help it,
do whatever he told her to do, and pray.

The next morning the old nun asked Sister Magdalene how
the Saturday night bath had gone.

"Oh, sister," said the young nun dreamily, "I've been
saved."

"Saved? And how did that come about?" asked the
old nun.

"Well, when Father John was soaking in the tub,
he asked me to wash him, and while I was washing him he
guided my hand down between his legs where he said the
Lord keeps the Key to Heaven."

"Did he now?" said the old nun evenly.

Sister Magdalene continued, "And Father John said that
if the Key to Heaven fits my lock, the portals of
Heaven would be opened to me and I would be assured
salvation and eternal peace. And then Father John
guided his Key to Heaven into my lock."

"Is that a fact?" said the old nun even more evenly.

"At first it hurt terribly, but Father John said
the pathway to salvation was often painful and that the
glory of God would soon swell my heart with ecstasy.
And it did, it felt so good being saved."

"That wicked old bastard," exclaimed the old nun."He
told me it was Gabriel's Horn and I've been blowing it
for 40 years."
