Perhaps he's referring to the application the company made to the LRB to be exempt from provisions of the Labour Code that require certain conditions to be met in the situation of mass terminations?
You know, the application that was made the same day the terminations were issued?! I'm sorry, could we hear that speech again from JTF about respect being a two-way street etc etc?
Could that be what he's referring to by "change their policies"? Not quite accurate, but it certainly was the impression given that CanJet/IMP pretty much did what they wanted wrt the LRB.
If what you refer to is the CIRB deal, it had nothing to do with paying out severance. That exemption from the labour code was so the employees didn't receive 16 weeks notice (or something like that) and then restructure the company. If IMP followed that then there would probably be nothing today. But trust me, ALPA addressed that and it was dealt with the best they could.
This is the second company KR shutdown. Air Atlantic employees were paid out, wether you consider it fair or not, they were paid. Alot of those employees went over to InterCanadian, and didn't get a cent following that closure. That had nothing to do with IMP. The rest I'm sure you can remember.
So, both times IMP closed the airline down, the contractors were paid, and the employees were paid the appropriate severance.
I'm not trying to stick up for IMP or KR but I don't like it when facts get twisted.
From what I'm hearing, they are now down to the last 10 pilots on the seniority list. I guess they went through the last 30-40 on the list pretty quickly, with just about everyone opting to stay far away from Kenny. I'd still like to hear from anyone in management(maybe Hifly), about CJ's plan when they start to run out of pilots in March.
I hear that with the full sched that they're running short of reserve and management is flying a little too much to their liking. Didnt need a crystal ball for this.
The payscale is a little off, the 1st year pay is just slightly higher now. The 110 pilots is just wishful thinking. I believe its more like 50 or so and is steadily decreasing and that trend will continue. Also, of the 100 pilots that they recalled, only about 30-40 went back, tha rest got better offers and had enough of Ken's bullshit.
I was one of the guys that turned down the offer to go back because there is so much more out there for pilots. I should probably thank Canjet for pushing me out the door......or better yet for "throwing me out of the Liferaft". All I can say is I would rather swim with the sharks knowing where i stand, then to wonder when its my day to be thrown overboard again. I cant speak for anyone else , but I wouldn't ever return.
I must say....great bunch of guys/gals best of luck to them all.

Now they never actually said they were going to get 700's. That would have meant there was actually something to announce. It was a big show with a lot of smoke and mirrors. Actually not even a big show, but the main thing is people actually have fallen for it.
fallen for what exactly? First, they already gave the impression they're sticking with -500's for a while and admit -700's are hard to come by.
Trust me, not many people walked out of that meeting feeling that this maybe the next great east coast airline. We're working with our backs to the wall and our cards close to our chest.
Until things are done right you will see this thread or a similar one exist. Chances are, you will see this thread until the end of cj and for a short while after.

I guess the latest wave have been through the AC interview process. The groundschools at AC are more like a CJ reunion. There's a few making travel plans to attend groundschools at WJ for march.
