WHO ARE THEY ?

Post by SQ »

Myth or reality ?
where are those companies hiring F/O king Air with 250 hrs ?
After dozens of call still don't find them !
Do they exist or is it an urban myth ?

if someone could enlighten me

Unless they're medevac King Airs, in that case for MB and Ontario (don't know about other provinces) you need a minimum of 500TT.

you need five hundy in alberta as well for the medevacs.

There were two guys in my BE100 GS that were 250hr wonders.. It's all about being in the right place at the right time and just never giving up!! If you want it bad enough, you'll get it.

Cheers!

I am going to go with myth. It could be true if you worked the ramp first. If you are looking to get a job straight into flying with no ramp work I think it will be tough. The instructors with 500tt will get jobs as king air f/o's as provincial health contracts require that. However go up to YK or anywhere north and the are companies willing to put you in a 50,000lb airplane with 250 hours. However you WILL work your ass of first......Of course unless you smoke a great pole.

i was right seat in a 100 with less than 250, and didn't work a day on the ramp for that particular company...

just a matter of being in the right place at the right time i guess, can't really put my finger on anything that i did different than anyone else. or maybe i was just un-naturally lucky. however, that being said - i don't think one should EXPECT a right seat king air (or any airplane) job right out of school. my bags were packed and was ready to head to YZF for a ramp job with ASW when i got the call for the king air. it was a lucky break, and i'm still trying to figure out who to thank for it.

it might take more than just emailing out some resumes and hoping for a reply. make some phone calls, if its possible in your budget - make a drive out to say hello. the way the industry is right now, if you can't find yourself a job that gets you flying inside of a year... you just ain't tryin'.

why limit yourself to r/s on a king air? go build some command time if you can. I'm not knocking the right seat, but its not easy to upgrade a guy with 1500-2000 hours all right seat (yes I realize it does happen but in the days of Contrail and MOH requirments its not as easy.)

Cheers

A quick perusal of the job ads, and you'll see how many of the better jobs are requiring PIC..... Get it where you can. I'm beginning to feel like a broken record...
