No idea...this is terrible news.
Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Looks like it was a BFC aircraft. No fatalities, but they were critically injured
I hope everyone comes out ok.

Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Aircraft is a C172P 1983 C-GHAP imported in 1991, accident happened very early in the morning. Three Foreign students (India), "Impact marks suggest a forced landing, however flaps were not lowered." (Statement from Crash Investigator on Global News). A nearby homeowner went outside to let her dogs out, sometime around 630AM and heard distant cries for help. The three persons were still trapped in the wreckage.

The Theory of Flight - Because even after 100 years, we're still not sure it works!
Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
No, it wasn't C-GHAP actually.. It was C-GHSQ.robbreid wrote:Aircraft is a C172P 1983 C-GHAP imported in 1991, accident happened very early in the morning. The crash was actually closer to the Shelburne area.
The occupants conditions are improving thankfully, and everyone here at CNC3 wishes them all the best to a full recovery.
Cheers

Man, first FGD and now HSQ. Glad everyone is ok. Kinda weird hearing about the planes I used to train on disappearing...
Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Who cares what the registration was? Who cares who flew it before?
I really wonder about the people who seem to get off on trying to trace bent airplanes, back to themselves. Creepy stuff man.

Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Maybe because people have flown the aircraft before, or fly at Brampton..
Lots of people were asking today, whats wrong with that?

Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Actually, if you go through your logbook, it's amazing
how many of the aircraft that you used to fly have since
been wrecked and taking off the registry, and the letters
re-used.
Sorta sad. Not sure what the airplanes did to deserve to
be wrecked, and melted down for scrap.
This may be interpreted as "creepy", but a very experienced
fighter pilot I know, upon hearing that an F-22 was going to
cost $250 million (no typo), suggested that the pilot be strapped
in with a wide metal strap (no ejection seat) because the
aircraft was worth so much more than the pilot, who would
then be truly motivated to save the airframe at all costs
I should mention that not all old fighter pilots are completely
politically correct yet.

Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Very sad accident indeed. One of my friends was on that flight. He is stable now. Apparently the pilot had to get his legs amputated and may be paralyzed. The third made it out with minor injuries.

What kind of mechanical failure caused the crash?

Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
They were found 8 hours after they departed on a time building flight and by the looks of the picture their was no fire. Where did the breakdown happen with the BFC flight following or operational control system happen? How much fuel did they have? Were they out flying around all night without a flightplan? Too many questions to ask. I would like to assume they did everything right to think it this was just really bad luck but at the same time come up with every possible obvious screwup to learn from it so it doesnt happen to someone else.Hedley wrote:What kind of mechanical failure caused the crash?
Its just good to hear everyone got out now lets just pray that they all make it thru the recovery and are able to be with their families.
Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario

Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Just want to make it clear. No one has had any limbs removed. The pilot is improving every day. the man in the right seat is having some difficulty but that is to be expected. He is on life support. the guy in the back is at home . God willing they will be back with their friends very soon.
I wish I could spell
Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
If the guys made it through then that's all that matters. Thank god! Screw the airframe. Nobody's gonna have a funeral for it. Had enough of those.
Re: Cessna crash near Orangeville Ontario
Sadly...the front passenger has passed away based on the information that I recently received.

May he rest in peace, a really close friend of mine, god bless his soul and I pray for his family and friends to help them get through these hard times.

According to the CADOR (2008O1950) the ELT didn't activate, and was damaged. They were only found because the local farmer saw the crashed plane in his field at first light.
