Who's from YSB

Post by 185_guy »

Anyone here living in YSB?
I'm trying to get some information on the place. I've never been there, besides the airport.
Now, i'm from small places and hate big cities. Is there lots of good fishing close by? I can only imagine there's lots of snowmobiling in winter, how about the summer? lots of ATV/bike trails?
Is there a flying club, or just Sudbury Aviation there for flying? I can only imagine the nightlife has its places as with any mining town.
How are housing prices/ finding a place to live? Where's the best place to find a place, within say an hour? I assume east of town may be a bit stinky.......
Thanks for any insight!

You're obviously pondering a move. My wife worked there for four years, she loved it. I've only been a few times, but I had a blast every time I went.

Thunder Bay and Sault Ste Marie I really love. Sudbury is so fucking bleak, even more so now with the downturn in the mining.

From ysb and lived here all my life, (except for 2 years of it).

Well heres a little info to get you started

-lots of bike atv trails(I own an atv and have a blast with it)
- Lots of snowmobiling( i own one and have a blast with it)
-housing expensive, but with the downturn the "experts" are saying it will come down, although havnt seen it come down yet.
- definetly find a place within an hour(getting the feeling that you are into atv's and snowmobiles) I would recommend valley east area, 15 min ride from the center of sudbury, 15 minute drive from airport, and LOTS OF TRAILS FOR THE OUTDOORSMAN, its the type of place you leave your yard with the quad and your in a trail.(its west of airport)
- 2 flying schools other than sudbury aviation 1)eagle fligth center, located at the sudbury airport
2)central north flying club, located at a private strip in coniston

anything else you wanna know fell free to ask

sorry if this is a little disorganized, but I've had a few too many (according to my wife) :)

P.S who you gonna be flying for in ysb?

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.
