Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
Im the guy that left... It's a good job. The current pilot's are a great bunch of guys, the flying is interesting, the bikinis at Green Island can turn a bad day into a great day, and the pay is good. I would have like to have stayed and I would like to go back. However, at the moment im making the most of an opportunity to do some travel while working in another industry im passionate about and I don't have any regrets about it.
Best of luck guys, have a schooner for me!

Sounds like there is no reason not to send in the CV now then. All the best in your óther pursuits.
But what could be better than bikinis at green island?

Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
It may not be everyones idea of a dream job but i’ll be spending 2010 in Chile, Jamaica and Mexico getting paid to build and ride mountain bike tracks. I won’t be naked on Mana Island and for a while the closest thing to a Green Island bikini may be a Nomadic Patagonian las washing her alpaca jumpsuit in the local river! But who knows, maybe when I get to Jamaica i’ll get gooned and find a nice girl out in down town Kingston one Saturday night...
Under the current company structure with Philly in his role it would be a great place to work for the right person, past company management styles are irrelevant.
To quote the guy who taught me to fly floats “man who looks behind walks into pole in front”
Cheers o2float, I hope it’s a good year.

1-2 more summer(s) on floats and I would've been the perfect candidate!

Will you be hiring an otter pilot in the future?I'm also in the process of trying to get a Turbo Otter over here ASAP.
Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
I'll take that as a "no"
oh well, I'm pretty happy where I am anyways, it's just so easy to day dream about the warmer weather when it's -30.

Well said North Shore. I have been reading these posts and thinking the same thing. I have to give Philly credit for keeping his composure. I'm a retired old fart now but back in the day I would have been all over this. Hope you find someone.North Shore wrote:*Shakes Head* Sometimes I wonder about this place... Guys, all Philly has done is come on here and offer a job to someone, hoping to find 'the best' candidate for his company, and all we've done is give him sh!t about it...
Arguing with a pilot is like wrestling with a pig in the mud, after a while you begin to think the pig likes it.

Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
Hey All,
Just wanted to let you all know that there are now 3 positions available with the company that this thread was all about. 3 pilots walked in as many weeks. Seems the awesome pay and conditions on offer were simply not good enough for the pilots to suffer the appaling management (cant really blame them). Only the CP left now so if anyone wants to have a crack then send your resumes in to them... you might want to get a bit of info from philly though, he may just talk you out of applying.

Ya they have gone through 4 or 5 more pilots since then and lost their OC. Oh well I tried. Back in Canada again. I await the final report so that I can say I told ya so to the owner.

Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
philly, was this an example that could be a dream job had the proper owner/ management been in place?
Re: Under 31 years old with an Australian Licence
Oh yes. Very much so. Where else can you spend your days on a Tropical Island watching backpacker girls splashing around in the surf. Different times of year bring girls from different parts of the world. There is the European season, the South and Central American season the North American season and of course the Asian season.
It's also a licence to print money. They esentially are running Beavers for $10 to $15 a mile. A $1500 an hour charter rate. Sadly the guy the owners have running the show is a slimy, greasy, sack of shit.
Oh well back to flying drums and lumber in Canada.

I wonder how hard it would be for a good reputable Canadian operator/ good entrepreneur to try start up down there.

Sorry to drag out an old thread, just wondering if
Cdnpilot77, Ragwingflyer, Beechnut and North Shore have read the washup of the this thread?
As I stated earlier I was not bagging out on Canadian's, there had to be more.

I was young and naive oldfartus
however, I do not think that hiring foreign pilots or lack of training bonds are what sunk this company....merry christmas!
