AT are getting A340S?
AT would never consider A340s?
AT was parked by an A340?
Pretty open question, no?
Never point your aircraft to some place your brain hasn't already been 5 minutes earlier.

I hope he means parked by a 340 .. why would they consider getting 340's when you can fly 2 holes over the pond? The silly games they play in the oil market should be enough to stay away from 2 more fans burning dinosaurs ...Main Gear wrote:Meaning???

I doubt they would be interested, unless they could pick up some on very favorable basis compared to A330's.
I presently fly for an airline that operates both A330-200's and A340-300's. We are desperately trying to dispose of our A340's (unfortunately we have some leases that lock us in). The A340's are a better aircraft on ultra-long haul. We have some 10-11 hour sectors in our route structure, but for that the A330's are more than adequate. In other words, the A340 becomes interesting when it is beyond the range of the A330's or you are unable to comply with the ETOPS requirements. I cannot see that becoming an issue in Air Transat's route structure.
As for the CFM-56 engined A340's, their time has come and gone. The big-engined A340's are getting a mixed reception at carriers. Again, these are for ultra-long haul.

well said panama jack. they have considered all kinds of jets, you can be sure of that. but for now, they're going for an all A330 fleet with 2 new coming in by the end of the year. and one by one they will retire the 310s
