Post by HORUNNER »

Anyone know why they are looking for F/O's?
Has their been some movement or aircraft added?
Noticed they were hiring a month or so back aswell as one other time since the new year.

It was my impression that they won the Baffin Island medivac contract. If they plan or rotating pilots into YFB, that would require some hires.

They did get the contract. Not sure how many guys they need but it sounds like there will be lots of expansion. Interviews are on Aug. 9th.

Anyone here have any advise for the interview/sim evaluation process? Or any current details on the company/working conditions/salary/benefits?????

Do they still have a jumpseat agreement with the airlines?

Feel free to PM me if you have any information.

despite what was said above keewatin is an excellent company.

the requirement for f/os is due to a new contract and uprading of all qualified fos to captain positions.

the salary is industry standard or better with an excellent schedual.

as for the moral it may have been low in the past (outdated info) but it is strong now. many feel the excitment of upgrades and
new aircraft on the way. we should recieve our first new kingair today with more to come.

if you are looking for an excellent company with great advancement put your name in and be ready for an eval. the last f/o we hired three or four months ago from instructing is going capt in the next few weeks.

awesome company, lots of stuff going on in the months to come. 1900 sched is gravey, they make a 45 day sched. and u work something like 28 of those. That includes usually a 7 day stretch off, and a mixture of 2 or three days off after working a single or 2 day pairing. Must live in YWG tho.

medevac contract i hear starts around mid nov and they are building a hangar in yzf. dont worry, the fund has lots of money. 2 more 200's, and another lear, and possibly a pc-12?

2 on 2 off for medevacs, like the above poster has stated, they have ac/ jazz jumpseat agreements. Lots of guys commute.

it will be an interesting transition as the company has almost doubled.

good luck to the applicants.

From what I was told, the salary for FO is $25,500 for the king air with $40 per overnight and the 1900 is $30,600.

Collins is pro line.
the pro line is the full glass cockpit done by collins in the brand spanking new B200s...

some of the mid 90s B200s have 3 tube collins CRT... not full glass....

Ive just heard the avionics guys differentiating the systems by says collins or pro line but hey if you want to split hairs... I was just wondering what type of cockpit was in the 'new' Keewatin 200s

Capt on the 1900 is not industry standard, I talked to the chief awhile back when they were hiring a capt for this position. When I asked what the salary was and he said that it was 51K I nearly sharted.

If your coming through the ranks though, sounds awesome, benefits, lots of types, jets, and great experience and it all allows you to live in civilization.

Jumpseat sucks if you actually have to be somewhere on a D2 priority

better off just getting paid an extra 8k, and claim all the per diem yourself

Well that's your point of view... But it's better than before when we had nothing! The agreement has been in place for the last 2 years and over those 2 years I have been bumped 3-4 times max. I do the commute every 2 weeks. If you plan correctly (ie you give yourself a safety net) then it's great. I also flew to Europe for free a couple of times... Hard to beat!

YRT crews average around 50-60 hrs over 2 weeks (have seen as much as 80 hrs)... YYQ is a bit slower, usually 40-50 hrs over 2 weeks.
