Westwind Aviation

Post by md11wannabe »

So I see posting after posting for jobs at westwind. Has there been a mass exodus because of new management/pay/low morale/expanding???

How are work conditions/pay currently at Westwind? What is starting wage FO? I'm assuming now that there is a union there are different pay scales for each a/c?
Good company to work for?

Not much info on here that I can find about Westwind?

Your help is appreciated!

But.....
Here’s your opportunity to join an award winning energetic company located in booming Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. The beautiful city of Saskatoon is family-friendly, safe, and culturally diverse. Our city offers affordable housing and insurance, low taxes and utility rates, great health care, world class educational institutions, and short commutes to work. This is an exciting time to land in Canada’s #1 growing city.
Its not cheap to live there anymore!
Insurance? its not that cheap.
The health care system is pretty std across canada.
The city also has the worst traffic setup/problems of any city of that size (Circle drive north bottle neck).
Oh and the "Safe" part, they have tons of crime right along side Winnipeg and Regina.....

Take off the rose coloured glasses folks.

YXE is nice don't get me wrong but its not Shangri-La

I more or less agree with everything but this. You've obviously never lived in BC. Sask has been by far the cheapest out of all the provinces I've lived in for insurance.

What is WW pay scale anyways?

I went to Saskatoon on Friday to walk in a resume. Hr girl said 4 King Air f/o spots based in Stony Rapids, 1 wk on 1 off. Seemed like a good operation, hoping to get a call. I didn't get too much details on the other aircraft they are hiring on, but ATR's do mine sched, and Jetstreams and 1900 do charters, cargo and sched runs (expressair).

Anyone on here working there currently?

From what I hear there hasnt been a "mass exodus". The reason they are looking for all those BE20 positions is because they took over all the Cameco flying out of Stony from National. I think they had a few pilots leave to fly the heavy medal but all the West Wind pilots ive talked to like it there and morale is good...

Oh I have been wondering the same thing, but I suppose it has only been 2 weeks since they ran the ads. It probaly takes time to go through 500 plus resumes. Perhaps Westwind will post once the postions are filled........ then I can stop dreaming and focus on driving this bus

Any word on that posting yet? Any one getting an interview? Have they filled the positions? It can't take this long to weed through 500 resumes.

call the CP and you'll have a better feeling of the situation = you will just be able to deduce they already had the pilots before posting the positions, or didn't do any interview, or didn't even reviewed your resume, neither opened your email, and posted the positions just to satisfy the EOE concept.
move on folks...

Actually a week after the job was posted I ran into an old friend (back from flight school) and he was invited for a sim ride with them on the 200? So perhaps they did interview candidates. Last I heard was that the CP hadn't found the King Air pilot yet. Too many 300 hour's using "well I wanted to do this since I was a kid" as an asset to get hired.

A phone call may not hurt? My information is second hand, maybe what Scoption is saying is more of the realm.

Try your chance, the worst case scenario is that the CP says the positions are filled, or is "never in the office."

Good Luck 8)
