Air Canada Hiring 51 pilots
Hello first time poster, long time reader.
Would like to know
1. Has Air Canada began calling out for new hire course dates?
2. Have all interviews finished? I was told 4-6 weeks to hear back. That was 6 weeks ago for me.
3. Is Air Canada still hiring based on the 2 pilots coming back and possibly more deciding to work past age 60.
4. Rumour of more than 51 pilots in the next few months? anybody confirm this.
Thanks for any input, As I am patiently waiting for the phone to ring and get on with my life.
I have a feeling it is a very long process to interview so many people and get all the ducks in a row to make these decisions.

Some people were called for medicals 7-10 days after there interview. Have you completed the medical?

Re: Air Canada Hiring 51 pilots
I interviewed about a month ago. I was called back for a medical about a week later and my references were called shortly thereafter. Since then I have heard nothing new. I'm surprised how quiet it has been on this forum. Does anyone know if they have filled the Dec. 01 groundschool? Any new information would be most appreciated.

I think that there is some bad news coming up for you guys. I spoke with a union guy last week, and he says that the anticipated Nov/Dec bid is going to be a down bid. This is due to the fact that 120 pilots may be returning, and many may stay beyond the age of 60. Sorry guys, hope it's not true.

The statement is enlightening as the union guy is obviously not confident of "their" legal proceedings.

For those of you applying or awaiting call backs. Yesterday I was talking to one of the people involved with producing the equipment bids, and I was given no indication that the above information is correct. I'm not sure who MacDoo was talking to, and I'm not accussing him/her of lying but my information is quite the opposite. Courses are still planned, and applicants are still being interviewed and called for courses. My information is that things are continuing, so just hang in there and remain possitive. Good luck to you all.MacDoo wrote:I think that there is some bad news coming up for you guys. Is there anyway to tell if your online submission has been viewed by Air Canada?

Hold on here for a sec...
Un-doubt ably Ray and his Merry men will damage future growth (if he's partially successful), I don't think we're in "down bid" territory.
Air Canada was likely in a position to hire about 200 or so pilots in the near future...even if you subtract a percentage of future retirements and the possible return of some, we'd likely still be in a status quo/slow growth mode. The next bid will only be forward looking about 6 mths (July,10) and therefore only take into account planned retirements until that date...don't expect much of a change to our retirement age by July
MacDoo...whoever you spoke to is likely un-informed considering the position ACPA has taken in the current litigation. His statement above would admit defeat and not the attitude we need representing us!
In addition, our new contract should have provisions to address those who want to stay past 60...If it doesn't, it's unlikely to get ratified!
So for now...steady as she goes

Re: Air Canada Hiring 51 pilots
Thanks for the feedback everybody,
silvrsurfr you mentioned they are still interviewing. Is this still going on now (to the best of your knowledge). I am more interested in how many people they will interview for the 50 or so positions.
Second you mentioned the calls are still going out! Have any calls gone out to potential new AC pilots for groundschool dates.
again thanks everybody. Waiting waiting and still waiting. Maybe I will go shovel some snow for now.

Yes to both just as groundtoflightdeck has said. There are courses planned in Dec, Jan, Feb, and an equipment bid to come next month which will shed some light on requirments after that. Good luck.

Re: Air Canada Hiring 51 pilots
First new hire course started last Monday. Supposed to be possibly one more in Nov, then Dec and Jan. AC can take a while to get back to you, so as long as you haven't gotten a PFO letter you're still in the running!
All the rumours I've heard indicate the next bid would be a postive one showing more newhires.

Great to hear such positive news.
The guy I spoke with was on the negotiating team about 10 years ago, so I just figured that he still had friends (in the know) in high places. Hopefully he was just "sounding off".
