Lockout and AC Jetz?
I know the Winnipeg Jets, TML, Montreal Canadiens and a few other teams use AC to get around. What will this mean for them?
Re: Lockout and AC Jetz?
I'm sure if it comes to it they will turn to charter operators.
Re: Lockout and AC Jetz?
Well.....Sunwing et al are preparing for the end of their high season and laying off staff for the summer....perhaps this could be a bonus revenue stream for them?
Then again, I hear that Mikey Bryant is on the phone trying to charter the DC-3s out to them.

Why not, the Cleveland Indians did it in the late 80's.....but that was just a movie

Re: Lockout and AC Jetz?
Air Canada has more than enough A320 pilots in management to cover Jetz flying.

Re: Lockout and AC Jetz?
That's a lot of management, in my humble opinion. Remember when the agents went on strike? There were enough managers to fill the agent positions to keep the operation running relatively smoothly. Me thinks we are a little fat on management.TheStig wrote:Air Canada has more than enough 320 pilots in management to cover Jetz flying.
Re: Lockout and AC Jetz?
All the bases in Timbuktu that see 1 AC flight per day or every 3rd day have a non-unionized person/manager to keep an eye on the service companies checking in and loading the airplanes.Darth Colin wrote:That's a lot of management, in my humble opinion. When the strike happens they are all flown to the YUL/YYZ/YVR/Etc from all over the place. Those people aren't all standing around twiddling their thumbs, there are a lot of Timbuktu bases.
And those people are the junior managers that actually know how to do the job. Many if not most are put in those positions because of job knowledge and work ethics, and are vital to day to day operations. The kiss asses and rat racers are generally either promoted up or stressed out by angry employees, they don't often last long.
I can't speak for 320 management pilots, but I know lots of junior managers at AC that are worth 10 of the employees they are charged with watching, and not that many useless ones. The guys left holding the bag when the crews are flapping or walk away from angry passengers, who get a bollocking from senior management for not meeting ridiculous targets, people caught between two worlds.
The director of hiring other useless managers and accountants charged with executive bonuses however, are a completely different story.
I work with AC daily in a similar capacity in a ground position, but not for AC. So don't take my word for absolute truth but it's pretty typical.

Re: Lockout and AC Jetz?
No don't worry. The dishonorable Lisa Raitt is concerned about the "health and safety" of Canadians so AC Jetz will continue to fly the overpaid sports players around.

Re: Lockout and AC Jetz?
WOW!
320 ex pilots filling positions in AC Mandarin Management Positions.
So is this an "AC Pilots Dream" to be promoted to management?
This must be the 10% dream to move up to management.
I would hate to be in the bottom 10% of the ACPA.
But then ACPA is not a union but rather an association.
Different rules of engagement.

I think TheStig meant to say:
There's more than enough A320 pilots in management....
There's way too many pilot managers at AC, but there sure as hell isn't three-hundred and twenty management pilots!
Tell me there isn't!
