Dream flights
Hi all,
A little background from me is I live in Winnipeg but was born and raised 7 miles from Shoreham, England so naturally this flight pulls a little at my heartstrings and it would be a dream of mine if I could acheive this flight in a single engine aircraft some time. (probably wont ever happen but a man can dream)!
The reason for my question is I was watching dangerous flights the other day where they picked up a king air (nicknamed the beast) from shoreham and delivered it to somewhere in the states (sorry my memory fails me as to where) and it brought that dream back to the surface.
So I was wandering if I could get a thread started whereby the members of AVcanada could put there most desired flight to do/done, why is/was it so desired, what type of aircraft would/did you use and if already achieved would you change the flight in anyway if you did it again?

Re: Dream flights
1) Spitfire MkXIV (i think). Last plane my dad flew in WWII.
2) Canadair F-86 Sabre. any Mk. Was a great fan of the Golden Hawks aerobatic team..having met them in 1962. Have cherished my autographed diamond formation pic since.
IMO the 2 most beautifull planes ever built

There is a nice pilot shop at Shoreham, a Transair pilot shop if I remember correctly.Lees147 wrote:... was born and raised 7 miles from Shoreham, England ...
A Tornado fighter was on display, near the building. It was there a few years ago.

1)A circuit in my grandfathers plane. A 1924 DH.51, named "Miss Kenya", was the first plane registered in Kenya, and is now the oldest airworthy DeHavilland in the world. Donated to the Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden. She still flies a few times a year. I have just never been able to time a trip to the museum when she is flying.
2) Any Spitfire, Mustang or Corsair

Re: Dream flights
You guys are too picky
For me, anything with
a) a thrust-to-weight ratio significantly greater than one, and
b) a light wing loading, and
c) a roll rate well in excess of 360 degrees per second
would do.
PS I flew a P-51 once. Was kind of disappointed. Fast,
wonderfully, incredibly noisy but not very maneuverable
and frankly not a whole lot of fun to fly. It didn't like to
turn as much as I did, which is a bit like going out on a
date with the prettiest girl in the world who has a phobia
about physical contact.

I think it would be a real hoot to fly one of the pan am clippers around the carribean or med as a sort of moving hotel for a few weeks. Bring all of your friends and just have a great old time. Find a couple good spots to moore the big boat !

Re: Dream flights
Mine is that my last flight before retirement will (also) be a safe and uneventful one.

Re: Dream flights
You can tell our approximate age by the choice of dream aircraft.
Mine would be a Caribbean island hoping starting from Southern Florida to the Dutch A.B.C islands on something low and slow like a helicopter (possible), or Extra 300 flight through the pylons in the Red Bull race style (not so possible) or in the CS's Pitts S2 nudge, nudge...
A few laps anywhere in F14, 15 or 16 or 22 will do as well.

This. Anything that accelerates going straight up has got to get you going (both literally and figuratively)Colonel Sanders wrote: For me, anything with

Re: Dream flights
This is something for squash junky to think about.
I had the same feelings and it finally happened in July 2010. 52 years of flying, 48 professionally and I looked forward to retirement.
Last flight of my career, Regina to Calgary in a Metro 3. Weather was perfect, winds were light, there was no flow delays, straight in on Rwy 25, wind light and steady right down the runway, a small cloud covered the bright sun, everthing was perfect for my last landing,,,, and I smashed it on!!!! dammit.
But other than that, retirement has been good.
