Good for them. Iran is an excellent market that has been opened up... a place were aviation greatly withered under American embargoes (except when Teflon Ron sold them some F-14 parts ).

Actually, I had a look through the article and I think I actually managed to figure it out.

It seems as though a guy who needs a haircut and another guy who needs a shave, neither of whom were wearing ties with their leisure-suit-like "business" attire, had a handshake together and were photographed looking awkward. This occurred after, according to the article at least, one of the men, presumably representing Bombardier, said some things about aircraft and aircraft servicing to the other guy, who in turn presumably represents some airline or other. They agreed to talk again in the future about aircraft and stuff. This may have happened in Iran.

That's about it.

This what Bombardier does, sell airplanes. If you need help starting an airline or running a corporate department they can point you in the direction of people who can for a fee help you with all of the above. They have been doing this for years in both commercial operations and corporate. I would be very surprised if the other major manufacturers A and B don't provide a similar service to customers.

That's what I thought, but I somehow understood something about them starting an airline. Pardon me if the article is a little bit ambiguous.

Bombardier is not involved in any sort of ownership etc of the intended airline. The launch/establishment of the airline by Bombardier refers to Bombardier only being the supporting company (with aircraft and other services) when the airline is set to launch/establish business.

Bombardier like many other manufacturers can provide anything from a single plane, a fleet, maintenance support or help setting up a complete maintenance department, contract training to a complete training department and the list goes up. It's like extras on a car or house. The real money is in the upgrades.
