Cessna 182 power settings

Post by RNAV30 »

I'm just looking to see what power settings people here use on a 182 for IFR procedures such as a non precision approach and an ILS approach

It's a C182K

Leave the cruise mixture setting and RPM unaltered, throttle back to 16" and 10 degrees flap gives about 90kts in level flight for glide slope intercept, close the throttle to 12" for about a 3 degree descent at 90kts on the glide path or CDA. YMMV.

In general you should be able to figure out your own power setting and configuration preferences. On a clear day go and decide at what airspeed and flap settings you're comfortable flying course reversals, holds and intercepts, and note the power settings that achieve what you want. Subtract three or four inches of MP for a 3 degree descent at the same airspeed, if that suits you. There's no magic involved.
