bluetooth headset adapters
Anyone have any recommendations on bluetooth adapters for headsets? I think Blulink is probably the biggest name out there. Are there other, more affordable options?

Re: bluetooth headset adapters
Honestly, just buy a bluetooth headset. the music quality through the speakers of a standard headset is terrible. You'd be wasting your money.
Re: bluetooth headset adapters
Agreed. I've flown Bose, Lightspeed and DC's. Lightspeeds are my favorite for build quality and sound. Bose come a close second. With all the new headsets on the market these days you should be able to get a Zulu 2 for 800ish. Great on battery life and good headset.

Re: bluetooth headset adapters
I have been flying with Lightspeed Zulu's (I's) since 2008. I love them and highly recommend them to anyone flying a piston or turboprop. Just google search Vibra-accoustcal disorder to see why a cup style headset is better for these type of operations.
I am flying a nice quiet jet these days and am interested in getting a smaller lighter headset that fits easier into my flight bag.
Many of the jet style over the ear headsets do not come with bluetooth adapters. Yes, I know one does but it is not the brand I am thinking about getting. I am currently looking at a Halo over the ear headset. My fault for not being specific in my original post.
Therefore, any recommends on adapters?

I like the Bose QC15 and uflymike. But they are in the process of making a new Mike for the QC25. Not Bluetooth but think you can still cord your phone into it.
Re: bluetooth headset adapters
I run a Blulink and swear by it. I move it from my helmet, to my personal headset, to a shared headset. I easily have over 1000 hrs on the unit and it runs flawlessly. I love the versatility for the price of one. I think the sound quality is great, and of course is even better in an ANR headset. Obviously you are not going to get audiophile quality running music through a headset not designed for music.
It has been worth every penny and then some for me!
The ONLY complaint I have is that when you run out of batteries and the unit "dies", then the comm volume is reduced significantly. This can be solved by replacing the batteries, or unplugging it all together. Moral of the story, it's your own damn fault if you forget to charge your batteries. I think the battery life if great. I can easily get 3 SOLID working days out of my Blulink with Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries.

Re: bluetooth headset adapters
I thought I was being specific enough. I do NOT want another cup style headset. My Zulu has worked great on smaller turboprops for nearly a decade. It will probably work just fine for another decade for that application. The bluetooth has kept me entertained all over the world with music/podcasts and movies on very long legs. I have happily recommended them to many people over the years. I now fly a different aircraft and want to get something that is better designed for the environment I will likely be in for many years to come (sans boucoup de low frequency rumble from props).collegeboy wrote:I like the Bose QC15 and uflymike. I would not, could not, in the rain.
Not in the dark. Not on a train,
Not in a car, Not in a tree.
I do not like them, Collegeboy, you see.
Not in a house. Not in a box.
Not with a mouse. Not with a fox.
I will not use them here or there.
I do not like them anywhere!
I am looking for a bluetooth adapter only. I know that blulink exists and what it costs. Are there other makes and models of bluetooth adapters on the market that work with a phone and music that I might be able to use with a Quiet Technologies Halo headset https://www.quiettechnologies.com/ maybe something cheaper??
Re: bluetooth headset adapters
Does your Quiet technologies headset have a 3.5mm input??
If so then this might be worth a try for $20

Relax a little, you also said you wanted a smaller lighter headset. Thought that might of fit your second set of parameters.BE20 Driver wrote: I am flying a nice quiet jet these days and am interested in getting a smaller lighter headset

It was meant tongue in cheek.
Settled on a nice headset and I'll source an adapter later.
Thanks!

I'm going to try the QT Halo. We'll see what I think of them in a few weeks.
