Personal observation from my cockpit windows is this is really not the case. Lots of new below-the-wing guys with the yellow "TRAINING" safety vest at the outstations. Same for the hubs, training is plain as day, but you don't teach a newbie to use a GPU or push a commercial aircraft on their first day, it takes times. Also, lots of new FA's on my flights these days.rookiepilot wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 2:06 pmWe got a winner, ladies and gents.lidi wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 2:04 pmMajor layoffs?rookiepilot wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 12:45 pm In fairness, I think the airlines know exactly what is coming soon, and don’t want to hire in front of it.

True, there is a ton of hiring going on for ramp crews (and just about everything else) but I was talking to a ramp lead I know the other day and when I mentioned all the hiring, he laughed and said they're quitting faster than they can hire them. Don't forget companies will hire up to the day they lay everybody off. I remember that happening in the past.tango308 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 05, 2022 2:24 pmPersonal observation my cockpit windows is this is really not the case. I'd think twice before I accept a new job in aviation with the current government running the circus. They could shut it all down again next week for a new "variant" or "wave" and the "2 weeks to flatten the curve" was, well kind of a lie.

With the shit storm happening at our hospitals absolutely the gov is going to blame us this winter. Remember all the retards here that said it’s our fault hospitals are full because we don’t mask properly, or we don’t want vaccines etc.

Oh would you look at that. All the liberal nurses who vote JT want out, and she’s going to Texas of all places lol. I thought America was shit! I thought their healthcare was inferior. Yet anyone who has an opportunity would pick up and go. Better pay, better hours, better climate and you don’t have to put up with your idiot socialist colleagues who circle jerk government propaganda about why the hospitals are failing.
Pretty certain this winter we will keep hearing noise about full hospitals. They are full already so why would anything change this winter.

Trying to find in the article where anyone says they are a Liberal or JT supporter.
Or is it the “tHeY wOrK iN hEaThCaRe So ThEy MuSt Be LiBeRaL” trope?
Also, good job misunderstanding that healthcare is run provincially, not federally. She should be blaming Ford, not Trudeau.
Have fun in Texas. Hopefully you don’t accidentally get pregnant or have to terminate a pregnancy for medical reasons.
Or get shot.

I'm going to start saying this alot.... The race to the bottom is over. Staff shortages are everywhere soup to nuts especially in aviation because noone wants the high costs to get in (flight training) and/or the crap pay sanctioned by execs and eaten up by all involved. $400 round trip fares from YYZ to YVR are done and should stay done.
The general public needs to remove their heads from their asses. Cheap fares are absolutely not a right and they are demeaning to the business and the victims are the employees.
Welcome to long lineups at your favourite fast food joints and your airport.

Well then, guess the Convoy Party of Canada(CPC) and the associated freedumb followers with Pierre Polio at the helm will keep us from sailing into the abyss.

Driving in florida you'll see billboards with live wait times for a given hospital emergency room. All of them were in the single digitsoldncold wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 6:33 pm Re recession know 2 recent canadian medical doctor grads that attended top rated usa schools . I love my healthcare in Canada. The doctor always tells me what I already know and tells me I should wait things out for a few months and see if it gets better. If you insist that you want to actually receive care here’s how long you will wait:
Vasectomy 14 months
MRI 7 months
Abortion 12 months
ENT specialist 18 months
Asthma assessment 24 months
Cardiology assessment 9 months.
Yes that’s right, if you would like an abortion, pre plan prior to your pregnancy so that it will happen in time.
Young grasshopper let me show you the way. Does your passport expire in 36 months? Time to apply for a new one! Maybe your ADB is due in 20 months, now is the time to apply for that too. Are you a landlord and considering eviction of a tenant for not paying rent? Ah You should have anticipated that 8 months ago, it will take that long for LTB to see your case.
All these times are subject to change. The 15th covid wave is coming and unfortunately hospital will be over flowing, TC will send all their staff home etc… so we anticipate more delays. In fact when you apply for your next ADB you may just consider preemptively applying for the ADB after the ADB you apply for.
Ohhhh Canadaaaaaa!

I wouldn't be too worried - you're probably 1.5 to 2 years away from the job market, so whatever turbulence comes down the pipe should be done by then..
Everything has an end, except a sausage, which has two!

Re: Air Canada to cancel more than 9500 flights this summer …
Gotta admit, I was worried when I booked my ticket to Europe on AC. The longhaul flight was cancelled twice this week and others had delays up to 7 hours. Went fairly smooth. No line up anywhere for the first flight and an on time arrival in YYZ. Had a long layover, so rented a car to do some stuff. No line up to go back through security and a 1 hour delay to push back because they boarded slowly at YYZ. Bags were slow to arrive but with customs lineups and purchasing a data card for my phone, I didn't have to wait too long.
Maybe things are getting better.

I coincidentally can tell you first hand that almost all the numbers you just made up are complete BS. For the most part, cut them all in half.WellThatAgedWell wrote: ↑Thu Jul 07, 2022 9:10 pm I love my healthcare in Canada.
