We get you have a hate on for Jazz, but SIM evils are not being looked as a cost savings measure.

Jazz is one of the only airlines that does them and it works well for screening out candidates that may struggle in training or otherwise become a CRM/HR nightmare. Kind of wish we were able to do SIM evals on pilots that came over from various mergers. Quite a few would not have cut it and it probably would have saved the training department a lot of work.
Listen to your own words. Jazz is one of the only airlines doing them. There’s many ways to screen out candidates. Sim evals are out dated, use valuable sim resources and training pilots.. for what? So they can figure out how to intercept a radial, or determine whether it’s a parallel entry instead of an offset when the FMS they are gonna fly is perfectly capable of drawing the magenta line and/or “ask” the PM to set a heading to show “amazing” CRM skills. Most airlines have moved away from this just it’s a cost. Just trying to help your sinking airline.

Most kids these days have flight sim, do it from home, like everything else in aviation except for actual airplane flying.

Cheers.

Edited for additional thoughts:

The way to screen out untrainable people without taking them all the way to the line check and spending $40000 on them to fail and subsequently get let go… is to set up “gates”.
Meet the expectations at a certain point or if you don’t, get additional training briefly, and if you don’t meet the expectations again…. Then As a New York controller says: SEEEEE YAAAAA!

Prime example of the Dunning-Krueger effect :)
