Sorry to keep pushing it but what you are saying is not fact ... you said "some companies", implying that more than one company decided to get rid of the Q400. When really the facts are ... one company wanted to get rid of them to save their own image.Weird, that wasn't any spin, just the facts. Point is, there isn't a single aircraft type out there that doesn't have some sort of dirty laundry.
Good luck with either the ATR or the Q400... either one would be an improvement over the current fleet.

You are not sorry
You must have stock in Bombardier. You win. I should have said only SAS pulled the pin on the aircraft due to multiple gear failures.

Re: jazz/atr
Do me a favor! AC could'nt operate anything efficiently even if it stood up and gave them cash back!!!Actually AC is pretty happy with the 190s. They are an improvement over the RJ for efficiency and passenger comfort and they are very competitive on routes that can't support 120+ pax that they have in direct competition with WJ routes. I don't have any of the CASM or RASM numbers but I don't hear any complaints other than the 15 175s should have been 190s. Pretty hard not to make money off that plane when you are only paying for a pilot and a half.
The 190 might be efficient and a money maker for AC, but in the hands of Jazz is would be very efficient and and even better money maker for AC!!!
Just an opinion of course

If possible...Its better to stop then land...than land then stop!
Re: jazz/atr
ok, I'll bite. How exactly is AC inefficient in their operation? Examples please.

The worlds most laughably inefficient ramp crew for one.

Re: jazz/atr
They have been better the past 4 or 5 months but I will give you that the have sucked in the past. How exactly does that relate to an Embraer though?

The ramp has been a lot better in YYZ lately!! I think the cost savings with jazz would be with the flight attendants mainly, as well as CSA's etc at the smaller stations. Also pilot wise with jazz we have status pay which saves huge in training costs. There's no musical chairs jumping from type to type for more pay. I know of a guy who has been at AC for 4 years and is going on his 4th ! aircraft type.

Re: jazz/atr
Impossible. With a seniority based bidding system you can not move to 4 different types within the past 4 years as his seniority would not allow advancement that quickly. How do I know? I have been at AC for 4 years.Inverted2 wrote:yycflyguy wrote:They have been better the past 4 or 5 months but I will give you that the have sucked in the past. You actually think that the cost savings between the two companies are due to low cost labour with flight attendants and CSA's? Wow.
Still waiting for an example on how we OPERATE the Embraer inefficiently.
Re: jazz/atr
Jeju airlines are also getting rid of their Q400's. I believe they are getting Embraers.

Are we seriously gonna go down this road again?

Jeju Air put a Dash 8 in the ditch........pilot error? Never mind.....
http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forum ... n/3558840/
But wait they also operate 737-800's......
Why would they go to an Embraer?

Re: jazz/atr
The only way you can really make a case against AC and the Embraer is to compare it to the U.S. Regionals that operate the same type for hmmmmmmm ... quarter of the pay. But really is that the right thing? .. No .. Jazz could operate them a small margin tighter .. but not much, in my opinion.
But what are the negatives of the Embraer? .. Erodes the good paying 737 and A320 jobs. How? (190) Same seats as the little Bus's and 37's .. but $25-$35,000 less at the top end scale.
A funny thing to watch .. AC getting more Embraers, losing 320's .. Jazz losing RJ's .. getting 737's??? .... Strange world ....

Re: jazz/atr
You still can't put an EMB on some of the RJ routes because the loads just don't justify it. ACs choice would be to reduce frequency or abandon the route all together which is not good for the bottom line if you can make money with the 50 seater or better yet a dash. No, a dash 400 or larger turboprop is another story.

Re: jazz/atr
What I don't understand is how some Jazz pilots brag that they'll operate the EMJ for less money and this will solve all of Air Canada's problems, much less do this career any future justice. I wish this "i'm better than you" attitude would stop amongs us all because all we do is embaress ourselves.
I'd be interested in what Jazz pilots would say if they we're told DH8's the "going to" Georgian.
In fact, why don't we send all of AC's and Jazz's planes to Georgian & CMA.. then sign our kids up to aviation training and watch the industry implode to the point where being a pilot is about as personally and financially rewarding as being a carnie working the gravatron.

Nah I wouldnt care cause i fly the RJ.vortac wrote:

what does drive me nuts is that the mainline guys worry more about what we at jazz are going to fly and such instead of trying to see the airline prosper. It is hard for us at jazz to really care for mainline when we see a steady stream of money out the door. Its hard for us to care when there is rumours of 737's for us and acpa is already starting a fight to stop it.(thats from our union which I will believe over what is said here so save it.)
