Just to be sure I understand, everything new but the fuel senders? Why can the We buy a truck for $35,000 that has a accurate fuel gauge yet have aircraft that you do not know if you have full, half or empty tanks!

Sounds to me like everything was done in as complete and correct manner as any of us could.
PilotDAR wrote:The indication system, wiring, tanks and senders are all brand new, and from certified origin - no half measures. They were all installed in accordance with their instructions, and I witnessed the set up of the indicators, from zero fuel to full fuel, in accordance with those instructions. Nothing about this installation is "not right".
I've never in my life owned, rented or operated a car or truck that had what I considered to be an accurately reading fuel quantity indicator. Generally speaking, they all read optimistically at the top and pessimistically at the bottom of the tank. You travel 200 miles on the top ¼ of the tank and 50 miles on the bottom ¼, or 350 on the top ½ and 150 on the bottom ½ indicated. Given the sheer size and scale of the automotive industry compared to aerospace and the overall refinement and reliability of most systems on the modern car, I find this more surprising than aircraft fuel quantity indicators being inaccurate. How many tens of thousands of opportunities have there been for refinements and improvement of the fuel quantity indication systems with new productions runs over the last century? Most often measuring fuel quantity in a fairly regular shaped tank, most often at a nice level attitude. You'd think that engineering challenge would've been nailed down by now.
