Tehmastermonk,

I was reading your post and was bothered by the blanket that you've placed on our society in general and specifically the users in this forum.

First off, five years ago the power grid did go down in the better part of the North East of the continent for at least 24 hours in most spots and more than 48 hours in some spots. We didn't fall into anarchy and there were very few if any deaths in that time frame.

Secondly, you seem to enjoy saying "what if" or "what will happen when" quite a bit. You show a lot of animosity towards this government and this society in anticipation of what may happen some time in the future. I'm not sure if we are the ones that are being naive. I'm extremely happy. I don't have fancy things and tons of money and I'm extremely happy in life. I know that my government isn't perfect but it's one of the fairest in the world. Your society doesn't seem to be all that great. Your "leaders" feed you these delusions which in turn make you extremely unhappy with the life that you have already. Your goal in life seems to put down other peoples lives and find ways to make yours more difficult.

Maybe you made some bad decisions in your life?

As far as the welfare argument goes, YOU'RE IN THE WRONG CROWD BUDDY. Nearly all of the people in these forums, whether guys working ramp, pilots or management have worked their asses off to get where they are and have worked in places and done things that might be out of your comfort zone and may make you want to rethink your argument. I'd be very interested in a poll to find out the amount of people on here that have been on welfare. I think that I would be pleasantly surprised.

This had been answered more times than I can count on this thread. It is called "Canadian society", and despite the fact you cannot wrap your drug addled brain around that concept, 30 million people in this country can. It is recognized by the United Nations as an organization and virtually all 195 or so other countries in the world representing over 6 billion people.

But somehow because you say so it doesn't exist.

Where do you get your arrogance?

In the meantime, you have Canadian citizenship that you refuse to renounce. You lie through your teeth about your use of money. And you enjoy all the benefits of a society that you refuse to recognize including health care for your drug addiction.

Do yourself a favour, get off the internet and into a taxpayer funded rehab. Then when your brain is rid of the effects of narcotics check yourself into taxpayer funded mental health facility to take care of the rest of you. You are not well.

Dammit!

This topic was more than half way down the page, on its way to the bottom, and you revived it!

Nobody is ever going to change these peoples minds anymore than they are going to change yours.

If being a Freeman is a great system, it will catch on. If it is not, it will remain in obscurity--but only if this topic dies.

Oh, wow, one corporation recognizes another---quid pro quo, Clarice. This "Canadian Society" thing does not exist in the sense that Vancouver Island exists. Vancouver Island exists no matter what it is called or thought to be called. Canadian Society, however, being merely incorporeal, only exists insofar as people believe in it.

""I see this as the beginning of a new era...In space, as you're turning around the Earth at 27,000 km/h, you see the continents - but there are no borders."
Julie Payette
http://www.dose.ca/news/story.html?id=1832076

So, I'll trust an astronaut over the rabble---you're free to side with the teeming hoardes who cannot contemplate living in a world where children are not lied to. There's no accounting for taste.

Believe me, it is very simple to believe in Canadian Society, especially when absent such mass delusion the CPP cheques would stop being cashable.

"In the meantime, you have Canadian citizenship that you refuse to renounce."

Where is it? Is it in my pocket?

"Do yourself a favour, get off the internet and into a taxpayer funded rehab. Then when your brain is rid of the effects of narcotics check yourself into taxpayer funded mental health facility to take care of the rest of you. You are not well."

Ah, how very soviet. Unfortunately, my ability to hear the lies predates any and all drug use. So, the National Socialists are left with two options: admit they lie to children about borders, etc. in order to control them or create mental health categories for people who assert that borders, etc. are fiction. Like, you're free to worship a unicorn and to say 'We are Citizens of the Grand Unicorn of Alpha Centauri', and I wish you well---but to foist that sort of nonsense onto impressionable nervous systems is probably as close to a crime against humanity as possible. "We are Citizens of Canada" is no better.

"But somehow because you say so it doesn't exist.

Where do you get your arrogance?"

It does not exist because saying something exists does not cause it to exist. For example, Vancouver Island exists no matter what it is called; it would exist even without a name, or if we called it Vancouver's Island instead of Vancouver Island.

"WHEN a corporation is erected, name muft be given it; and by that name alone it muft fue, and be fued, and do all legal acts ; though a very minute variation therein is not material. Such name is the very being of it's conftitution ; and, though it is the will of the king that erects the corporation, yet the name is the knot of it's combination, without which it could not perform it's corporate functions"
1 Blackstone's Commentaries 18, p. 462 (emphasis added)

We can agree that Vancouver's Island is more than what it is named; your Society is merely its name (a word) and whatever other positive law (that is, whatever words are posited) is deemed appurtenant to that name.

As to the pro-worker propaganda, the Nazis had that too, set into a gate at Dachau: ARBEIT MACHT FREI. What a vicious lie. As The Philosopher said, all paid jobs absorb and degrade the mind.

People on welfare are much better than workers---workers contribute to the rape and destruction of the natural world. They build roads, standing armies, airfields; they are addicted to gasoline and other fossil fuels. All glory to those who refuse to participate in the digging of their own graves. After all, why dig your own grave?

"I am a Citizen Of The Planet
My president is Guan Yin
My frontier is on an airplane
my prisons: homes for rehabilitating
...
I am a citizen of the planet
My laws are all of attraction
My punishments are consequences
Separating from source the original sin

I am a citizen of the planet
democracy's kids are sovereign
Where the teachers are the sages
And pedestals fill with every parent

And so, the next few years are blurry, the next decade's a flurry of
smells and tastes unknown
Threads sewn straight through this fabric
through fields of every color one culture to another

I come alive
and I get giddy
I am taken and globally naturalized

I am a citizen of the planet
From simple roots through high vision
I am guarded by the angels
My body guides the direction I go in"

Who are Canada's 'freemen'?

Stewart Bell, National Post · Friday, Oct. 29, 2010

HAMILTON, ONT. • When Mika Rasila got pulled over by Niagara police in January for driving his white Pontiac Montana without licence plates, he was ready with a defence: he doesn’t need plates because he’s a Freeman on the Land.

A Freeman on the Land, he explained in a letter he tried to hand the patrol officer through the window, is someone who has revoked his consent to be governed. He has opted out of Canada so the laws don’t apply to him.

It didn’t work.

Police seized his van, arrested him and charged him with six traffic offences, but the incident signaled that the anti-government Freemen on the Land, of which Mr. Rasila is a prominent member, had taken root in Canada.

Watch the videos from this story here.

Across the country, police and officials have been having similar run-ins with “freemen,” also known as “sovereign citizens,” members of a radical movement that does not recognize government authority and consequently refuses to licence their cars, carry government ID or obey police.

“We have thousands of members now,” said Mr. Rasila, who writes on the Freemen of Canada Facebook page, which has over 2,000 members. “We have meetings, we’re fairly organized. They’re very casual, usually just in someone’s living room or we’ll rent a hall.”

Canada’s freemen are a loose collection of....."

Some of the after-story comments crack me up

: " Then you can build a home-made dirgible to get around rather than drive on taxpayer-financed roads."

Now I'm going to find out how much it would cost to make a home made dirigible.

As a freeman, I'd hafta move upwind of work, so I could get there on time , and fight the wind going home-better to be late for supper than late for the morning steam whistle at the widget factory.

Oh yes, the word of an individual carries so much weight. Hmmm I guess there's no such thing as identity theft / fraud? Hey ladies, I'm some rich Asian *insert name here* and you should have a fun time with me.

Right to travel? I suggest you read the Canadian constitution. The Right To Travel doesn't mean you won't be denied by carriers. It means the government can't limit where you can go and live within the country. Since WJ and AC are private entities, most of the stuff in the Bill of Rights don't even apply. The only exception I can see is that they can't denied you carriage base on Race, Gender, and Religious reasons. Now you are free to sue WJ and AC, that's the freedom we enjoy. However, it will probably get toss out by Lower Court and you have to file a constitutional challenge, which again, you're free to do so.

Freedom doesn't mean you can do whatever you feel like it. If and when actions violate the freedom and safety of others, they should be limited and regulated. Just because you say they should trust you by your words, how can they be sure others won't exploit such trust for their own benefit. Your logic is pretty one-sided in my personal opinion.

Isn't it funny how the National Post tries to smear these people as violent whack jobs?

Sure, they might be broke and have vivid imaginations, but that's not nice to imply such untrue things. Shame on you, National Post.

It's kind of nice that some people are making us examine the philosophy of our laws. Introspection is a good thing.

OK, after an afternoon of beer and conspiracy videos. (I love doing that stuff. :drinkers: :smt030 :smt108 :smt101 :smt105 :smt060 )

I have come to the B.A. in psychology conclusion that good old Freeman is a psychopath that's setting up a cult.

He feeds on people's fears like mine that the State is getting a bit too militant. He's giving an option to get out of that state. AND, like any good psychopath, he's quite charismatic and bases much of his lies on fact. He's also quite smart and determined, but he's stealing his tactics from these guys:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montana_Freemen

There's lots of other Freemen out there too if you google it.

Now, there's no way of telling if this dude will get violent, but religious zealotry and the construction of his own "peace officers" force is a little scary and someone should be watching this dude.

http://worldfreemansociety.org/C3PO

He was smart enough to annoy police and courts enough that they let him off on some B.S. speeding tickets and stuff, but if I were Freeman, I'd give it up now and get back to comedy or something. He's going down a road that's feeding his impulsive psychopath tendencies and will probably end in his ass being in a jail cell or his brains splattered somewhere.

Also, here's him mentioning Avcanada, but not directly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9AQA-h0Fd4

I was gonna say some prophetic final words here, but I'll save them. This train wreck of a Freeman-on-the-Land saga is gonna make for some great entertainment and I want to be able to comment along the way.

I caution those of you who dig this guy- DON'T GIVE HIM A G.D. PENNY! That's how they suck you in.

But then again... I would love to have a beer in the park and not have to hide it...GO FREEMAN MENARD!!!

- istp, that was a well written, and logical post. It was researched (the quality of the research isn't something I can assess) and completely and utterly useless. I'd say the B.A. in Psychology has paid for itself with that single analysis. Seems you're well on your way to earning a Masters degree already. Well done! My contribution to paying off the what, $40-60K debt for your schooling, is in the mail ! :smt040
