Recommendation of instructor

Post by C-GOYR »

Hey folks, looking to complete my instructor rating and I've narrowed it down to two schools. Brampton and buttonville are my two options with me leaning more towards Brampton. I'm wondering if anyone has favourable things to say about a specific guy/gal. Ideally, I'm looking to finish in a month...pending weather and other unforeseen delays. I'm not sure if either one offers employment upon completion of said rating however, I figured Brampton would present a greater probability based on multiple factors. I've searched avcanada and read what people stated about both schools...no recent info though.

Any information will be appreciated.

Thanks for your time and attention

If you're cheap like me, go to whichever one has the closer practice area. An extra .2 Hobbs time per lesson (at what, like $180/hour now?) adds up fast...

The only criteria that matters is how good your Class 1 is. Unfortunately there are a lot of not very good Class 1's doing a crappy job of preparing new instructors. All senior instructors have an industry reputation, good, or bad. Do you home work, inquire widely, and go with the guy/gal that everyone you talk to thinks is a great instructor.

If your sole criteria for choosing a particular school is a desire to save .2 on every flight, please do all of your future students a big favor and go find a ramp job.

Ouch. I was actually very good at instructing and kept at it a lot longer than most of my coworkers did. The only reason I left was I didn't like what management was doig at my school, otherwise I'd still be at it.

There is something to be said about efficiency though. Whether that .2 per flight is cruising on out to the practice area or waiting number six for departure or due to your instructors bad technique, a waste is a waste. I should have said watch out for waste, but then there wouldn't have been an opportunity for a snarky remark.

I love this place.
