A Jazz de Havilland Dash 8-400, registration C-GGDU performing flight QK-8436 from Calgary,AB to Regina,SK (Canada) with 26 people on board, landed on Regina's runway 26 at 09:52L (15:52Z) but was unable to maintain directional control, the aircraft veered to the right and struck two runway edge lights before the captain was able to steer the aircraft back to the runway center line. The aircraft slowed without further incident and taxied to the apron.

NAV Canada reported tower observed the aircraft broke two runway edge lights, the crew reported they had lost nose wheel steering.

The Canadian TSB reported the captain was unable to maintain directional control despite full left rudder, the aircraft veered to the right and struck two runway edge lights before returning to the runway center line. Winds 8 minutes after the occurrence were reported from 020 degrees true at 19 knots gusting 29 knots. Debris from the edge lights as well as the lights needed to be removed from the runway. Company maintenance found both right main gear tyres as well as 5 blades of the right hand propeller damaged, the landing gear assembly and brakes were examined and found without fault. The tyres were replaced and the aircraft ferried to Calgary for propeller repair.

I really don't know anything about the Dash, is that kind of wind a non-issue? Tailwind, 80 or so degrees, 50% gust?

Something missing here. Was 08 or 31 not available. Why would you go downwind to land with a quartering tailwind.

winds 100 degrees off for rwy 13
winds 100 degrees off for rwy 26
winds 40 degrees off for rwy 08
winds 50 degrees off for rwy 31

The logical choice would have been Rwy 08, the departure point YYC even favours it for a straight in and then the shortest taxi available to the apron.
