Reminds me of the Metros with Garrett turboprops. I parked beside one once and the F/A asked why they were spinning the props. I told her it was to wind up the engine starters for the next flight.

Same as the 321neo.

On the bus, once you hit the starter switch a timer appears on the ecam which is indicating the time of dry run prior to light off. It could be up to 5 minutes.

The difference on the bus is the dual cooling feature, which when start selector is to start, if both engines require a cool you hit the dual cooling switch prior to ignition and both engine dry motor prior to start.

It’s a bitch if both engines require two min cooling and you forget to hit the dual cool.

The Boeing term is BRM - bower rotor motoring as your link shows.
This is to straighten the N1 and N2 shafts which may have bowed due to thermal buildup after the previous shutdown. BRM will be active from 6 to 90 seconds and MOTORING will be displayed on the N2 gauge between 18-24%.

When I flew older IAE powered A320s there was an issue with high vibration during engine start due to shaft bowing.

Several procedures were tried - none of which really helped.

Finally the manufacturer increased the vibration limits from 5 units to 6.5 units and that solved it!

Rolls Royce engines can have a very long start time as the engine needs to be motored until EGT is below 100c.

Is this intended to straighten the compressor shaft or to true up the compressor rotor disc(s)?

Gulfstream 280 is similar. If the engines need to be started between 15-180mins after shutdown, they have to be dry motored.
