Porter Airlines Q400 hiring mid 50s pilots?

Post by ellinas »

Hello aviators,

I’ve posted a question a while back regarding Porter Airlines regarding hiring times , enquiring if anyone knows if they will look at for hiring in the Q400 pilots in their 50s in terms of age requirements.

Yes they have hired pilots in their 50s, though in my experience most of them don't pass the sim. Might depend what your prior experience has been and how good your hands and feet are. Otherwise all requirements are the same as any other age group.

I don’t think age has anything to do with being successful in the PPC, that’s more of an experience/ability issue.

And, of course, Porter or any other professional company would not hesitate to hire someone in their 50’s as long as you meet all their other requirements. At your age they will still get a ton of years from you before retirement. We all know it’s against the law to discriminate based on many factors including age and I’ve seen many “grey haired” new recruits at Porter.

Best of luck.
