PAL getting 2 more tails

Post by rigpiggy »

N8803wm is now in YYT. My question is how are they crewing them? Low timers on the east coast is not a good recipe

No low timers in the left seat. They have hired some pretty experienced captains.

Really, how many semi retired ex Jazz?
I really have zero respect for a pilot who benefited from a union for decades to undercut the pilots still there when they leave, it’s selfish and abhorrent behaviour?
Fly corporate or something else but to go to the company who is actually helping AC violate our contract is really disgusting!
Of course this assumes my assumption is correct but really, where else are you going to find experienced Captains to fly for them, please tell me I’m wrong!

If the pay info on PCC is up to date, then PAL actually pays considerably more than Jazz for the same type. Isn't this actually an industry positive?

Not sure what you were looking at, I had originally thought the updated Jazz pay wasn’t there but it is.
PAL updated September 2023
FO starts at 51.02 and tops at 75.83
Capt starts at 94.39 and tops 128.01
Jazz updated this year also
FO starts 64.95 tops 103.11
Capt starts 108.23 tops 165.03
Jazz also has a significantly better contract and pension

Ok so PCC is definitely not up to date then. Is that Jazz scale for the Q or for the CRJ though? Just looking for apples to apples.

$200 an hour still wouldn’t be enough to fly a POS Dash in east coast weather with low time FOs.

I’d argue that many east coasters would disagree with you.

It’s a dash, you’re not flying a Navajo at 100 feet between NDB’s in the middle of nowhere.

If you can’t handle the weather on the East Coast maybe you shouldn’t be flying at all.

Enjoyed the East coast flying, challenging with xwinds, icing, turbulence, icy runways

It's a trade off, crappy weather for easy ATC. Direct destination everywhere but severe icing and windsheer.

Always amazing to see Avcan turn a post about PAL adding 2 fins into a discussion on eastern weather and flying...

Not growth. Upgrading from 300’s. Looking at the family tree I’d bet $50 on where they end up.

None of the 300's are being retired. This is growth.

PAL probably received their first cheque from AC and said “niccceeeeee”. Let’s buy airplanes.
