C-FSCZ, a ZLIN Z242L aircraft operated by Sault College, and being flown by a student pilot who
was returning to the Sault Ste. Maire Airport (CYAM), ON, from a solo cross country training flight.
The engine began to run rough after switching to the left fuel tank. The pilot conducted a forced
approach to an access road near Montreal Falls and landed without further incident. There was no
damage to the aircraft and no injuries.
Sault College maintenance took fuel samples and ran the engine full power from the left fuel tank
and no anomalies were detected. The aircraft was disassembled and was transported back to the
college for further examination.

Well done, hindsight is 20/20 and green is green.

Life experience often teaches you to undo whatever action you did prior to the issue, in this case they switched fuel tanks. Hopefully Sault College teaches that concept

Wouldn't they have just flown it out if it was something obvious?

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

C-GERR, a Zlin Z242L aircraft, operated by The Sault College of Applied Arts and Technology was
conducting flight training at the Sault Ste. Marie Airport (CYAM), ON, with a student pilot and
instructor on board. The instructor was demonstrating a simulated engine failure during take-off,
with a high angle of climb. During the maneuver the aircraft reportedly stalled, and subsequently
crashed onto the runway surface. The student received a serious injury and the aircraft was
substantially damage.

This one was a practice forced landing.
