Don't blow it!
The timing is perfectly "on cue".
They will be handing out "profit sharing" cheques on the April 17th pay (likely). It should amount to two to three weeks pay minimum, after it gets "mauled" by Justin Trudeau.
Since this is "surprise" money in the midst of negotiating, my advice is to squirrel it away and NOT spend it. Put it in a savings account to use for your personal strike fund.....because a STRIKE IS COMING. You'd be very naive to think it isn't. Anyone not prepared is being financially irresponsible, especially if you have a family and large obligations.
If you are personally prepared for a month on the picket line, we WILL achieve great things. This cheque gets you two-thirds the way there, and bridges the gap to strike pay kicking in at the two week mark. A month's strike should be painless now if managed properly. You owe it to yourself and your profession to do exactly that.
No excuses.
Any money spent on a strike will be paid back tenfold.
FWIW, As tragically managed as it is today, and TRAGIC is the only way to describe it, AC has proven that they are still a "money printing machine". Imagine the earning potential and stock price when the Board wakes up and cleans out the current management team and replaces them with a "half competent group" with actual vision instead of the current groups "cost-unit only attitude" towards its frontline employees.
The severe 20 year long discount on pilot labour NEEDS TO END. The funds to compensate you FAIRLY are clearly there.
HOLD THE LINE.

yeah but you gotta strike for a month? and wait for it. might as well take this money as Ripplerock says!
Re: You will be handed your STRIKE FUND shortly.
I highly doubt a strike would last more than a few days. Anything longer than a week would cause significant financial and brand damage to the company. They know they've been getting a deal on pilot labour for decades, so I have no doubt they'll cave and pay the international market rate for pilots, especially with their record breaking revenues.

The ALPA strike pay only starts paying out AFTER two weeks on the strike line. I don't foresee us getting that far.

Re: You will be handed your STRIKE FUND shortly.
The avalanche of BS from the Company is just beginning.
They are already bemoaning the rising cost of labour and blame it for reduced forward looking profitability. Better let Delta know!
The real deal is that there is a ton of waste on middle-management, and it's a real problem. Too many managers tasked with watching employees reporting to other managers who report to efficiency managers who then report to an accountant CEO that has no clue what to do about HR stuff. What they are realizing is that front line employees are not being given the proper tools to succeed, and are definitely not being offered the proper financial incentive to work anything but the "minimum required to stay employed". Can't blame us. There is a palpable feeling of disregard coming from this leadership team, and we feel it 100%. The C-Suite heavily rewarded themselves for their "extra effort" during Covid, 233% for someone very special, but left all the frontline employees "swinging in the wind". Everyone on the front line.
News alert! Sorry, "Shine Points" that are taxed as direct income isn't a "great way" to show employee appreciation. However, the message seems to be, "Enjoy your 2%, enjoy your free toaster and btw, suck it."
Meanwhile, south of the border, Delta and United are posting record profits, have record customer service accolades, and record growth while compensating their employee groups to the tune of 200% higher in some cases, ON TOP of giving them profit sharing cheques that will make ours look like a handful of stale peanuts.
How does properly compensating your most important employee groups help, management asks??? Well, why don't you guys ASK DELTA?

Re: You will be handed your STRIKE FUND shortly.
The objective is "not to strike at all".
However, prepare for the worst and hope for the best. The games being played by management should be a clear indicator that they will "take us to the wall". They have not agreed to a single article change in 7 months of "bargaining" prior to Kaplan's arrival. That is proof that they aren't taking us seriously, however what's new. Our objective is to show them that we are ready and united to press our case hard.
Have your personal strike fund topped up by summer at the latest, and for Godsake wear your damn red lanyard. If it shows nothing else, it shows that we demand to be taken seriously at the negotiations table, and will bite if provoked. This can't be understated.
