I started my flight training a couple of years ago - I'm middle aged going for my PPL part-time out of life-long interest, no pro aviation career ambitions. I had to pause my training earlier this year for family and financial reasons just after I completed my short x-country. Not sure when I will resume - hopefully in the spring (2025).
My 2 year Cat-3 medical expires at the end of Sept 2024. Should I just let it run out and renew before I resume, or should I keep it continuous and get it renewed ASAP?
If the latter, are there any av-med doctors in Eastern Ontario that have shorter wait times? I recall when I did it in Ottawa 2 years ago it took me 3 months just to get the appointment. Any idea what the times are like in BC? (Might visit there.)
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

You can apply for an extension if you want, just a few bucks but it's not really necessary unless you're in urgent need of using your license.
Otherwise wait times in Ottawa aren't anywhere near as bad now. Dr. Gill is very nice, and about a week or two.
Here is the list of CAME's for Ottawa, just call around.

If coming to BC - check with https://www.ultimamedical.com/services/ ... -medicals/ for wait times, don't think it's too long
