Postal worker strike
Any wagers on how long before government sends the postal workers to binding arbitration? This has relevance to aviation. It’s a country wide entity. I’m willing to bet by the end of next week, they are gonna be sent to an arbitrator.
Also, I may be mistaken , but as a crown corporation, they can just bring back to work legislation, and it’s curtains for them.

5 days & counting...
Appears the government is steering clear for now
I see them picketing out in the elements. Good on them

Re: Postal worker strike
Imagine if pilots could show this kind of gumption?
Maybe Canadian pilots wouldn't need to leave the country to get proper wages

Re: Postal worker strike
If only monopoly mail service was as important as air travel. Then pilots could be allowed to strike without being sent back to work.
(Sarcastic statement, both professions should be allowed to strike uninterrupted)

I do find it hilarious.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Wed Nov 20, 2024 7:39 am If only monopoly mail service was as important as air travel. Then pilots could be allowed to strike without being sent back to work.

Rail - not allowed to strike, arbitration
Air (just one company out of many) - not allowed to strike (allegedly), it will be sent to arbitration (allegedly)
Post (where Canada post IS the only one to deliver regular mail, and it's a crown corporation) - crickets.
Good for CP workers, I hope they hodl until their demands are met, unlike in this industry (except WJ AMEs, hats off to them).

Re: Postal worker strike
Don't forget WJ pilots or mechanics. It's not all about AC and what allegedly could have happened.
Government was in the room with WJ pilots, photo op and all.
Mechanics were forced into arbitration before it even started but it took a different turn.

Re: Postal worker strike
Which in retrospect is so bizarre. There's plenty of alternatives for mechanics out there (other airlines, contractors), whereas there is no alternative for the postal system.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Thu Nov 21, 2024 7:20 am Don't forget WJ pilots or mechanics. I'm happy they get to strike, but just so so bizarre.
As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Re: Postal worker strike
Oh the horror there were government employees in the room lol. It’s hard to blame the government for intervening when the pilots never gave them “the government” the opportunity to do so. If you’re a yes voter and not happy with the deal please don’t blame the government, blame yourself.
Anyway good luck to postal workers, it sounds like they have some integrity and dignity.

Re: Postal worker strike
I'm just calling out the government on their BS and hypocrisy. Don't really want to venture into the AC TA debate in a thread about postal workers actually having their right to strike being respected.
Re: Postal worker strike
What government BS and hypocrisy. They have a function same as anyone else.
If they’ve done such a bad job why not a wildcat or general strike or just quit? Obviously it’s good enough for the majority.

Re: Postal worker strike
My Nav Canada payment is stuck in the mail so now Nav Canada will have to lay off air traffic controllers and flight controllers in control towers all across Canada.
Don't let your wife talk you out of buying an airplane,

Re: Postal worker strike
I, along with many others here, grow weary of your foolishness.
