Will jazz follow suit and try to hire TFWs?

Post by CaptDukeNukem »

I’d personally like to hear cdnavater’s thoughts on this.

Encore is pushing for it with half their fleet parked. People need pilots. I realize jazz has a fleet reduction, but they still short pilots. Is this on the horizon!?

I will quit the training department if that happens.

It worked well Sunwing (sarcasm). I can't imagine it will go any better for Encore. Jazz will be following this and making decisions based on Encore's experience.

How about we make professional pilot a desirable profession in Canada?

I don’t see it happening at Jazz, but in all reality, never say never in this business!
Airlines will do whatever they can get away with to avoid paying more, I wouldn’t rule out Porter prop from doing this either but this is about Jazz, so will they won’t is anyone’s guess.
My thoughts on it are, would Air Canada let it happen and for that I don’t think so because the public sees Jazz as one in the same and the public image of this has been very negative. I’m actually surprised the WJ is “allowing” Encore to do this as they are even more WJ than Jazz is to AC.
It’s not a completely separate company, it’s currently wholly owned and WJ has publicly condemned the practice!
This will come back at them, why won’t these companies just admit it’s the pay that is the problem, I guarantee if they actually paid better than the others and provide a guaranteed path to the mainline operation, they would not need the TFW program

Yes I agree with you here. TFWs worked well for sunwing for a long time. I’m interested in how things will develop at encore.
