Ipad Mini 8.3in or Ipad Air/Pro 11in
I am looking to purchase an iPad. I've used the iPad Mini in the past, but never the larger 11in iPad Air or Pro. I am having difficulty deciding.
The Pro i am not considering due to the price, but the the Mini and Air aren't all that far apart with pricing. Would like to get some real word feedback from fellow pilots who are using the iPad.
Cockpit Space is a factor of course. I fly a Navajo/Chieftain
Thanks!

get the mini, you can get a ram mount that will work in portrait on the control column. back it up with a stratus and you have backup instruments too

If Yoke Mount isn't an option, would you still recommend the MIni over the Air?
Thanks!

You'll pay a premium for the smaller device, and not necessarily see any benefit in the way of performance - especially with newer models of family having upgraded chipsets.
The Air models both have the M2 chipset, whereas the Mini still has an A17 chipset which is quite a ways behind in terms of performance. You can go down the rabbit hole of articles comparing the two chips, but the M series generally and the M2 specifically is leaps and bounds ahead of the A17 - which is still a respectable chip...
I'd go for the smaller Air in cellular with the largest storage capacity you can afford; as you will regret running out of limited storage, versus having extra and not using it. There's also kneeboard style mounts that are quite affordable, if yoke mounts are not feasible - in addition to suction cup, etc.

Get what fits best in the cockpits of the airplanes you'll be flying.
Bigger is better if you have the space for it. I've found that a mini works best in most smaller aircraft though....

I use a 6th generation mini. It mounts perfectly in landscape mode below the G1000 PFD in my plane. It would also mount in portrait mode to the left of the PFD if needed. Previously had an older 10.5" iPad Pro and found it was just a bit too big in either location.
Re: Ipad Mini 8.3in or Ipad Air/Pro 11in
My work one is also a 6th gen mini, it's great. Note that for a new purchase today, you'd want the 7th gen mini if going for a mini - same form factor, updated processor, more base memory, which is important on cycle changes, depending on the charts you're syncing. (advise not getting base 64 GB model of anything).
My earlier point stands though - it depends on the aircraft you're using it in. If you have the space, bigger is better. If space is tight, get the current gen mini.
Also ensure that whatever you get is a cellular model, as these are the only ones with internal GPS.

Don't have a picture on this phone, but it will fit in between horns of the Navajo yoke, with just enough for one hand to fly with

My company used a 796 on the Yoke, that is why i said it Yoke mount isn't an option unfortunately.
I am still leaning towards the Mini, but the Air would have a significantly better resale value, should I choose to upgrade in a couple years.
