I'm just lookig for some advice on what people think of taking a job as a FO on say a Pilatus or a Caravan? A lot of companies are hiring low time IFR pilots this way and then upgrading them to right seat of a twin down the line.

If a person has VFR/PIC experience but no IFR time, would it be helpfull to sit right seat in a single for a while to get some IFR experience?

I would really like your feed back as I'm trying to way the pro's and con's.

Yes, I mean No... Errrr Yes or No? No/Yes... it's definitely maybe...

Operational experience is a positive thing... especially if you are really part of the crew. I mean flying every other leg and using SOP's.

But if it is a ride along and do the radio gig and isn't moving you toward PIC in a reasonably short period of time then... It's mostly a near waste.

Operationally there is no difference between flying a PC12 as FO or a King Air or Navajo other than one less lever. Too bad many companies don't see it that way, yet. But altiplano has a point, the best experience would be with a company that has SOPs (and uses them), The IFR experience will be just as good and the best part is you'll eventually go captain.
