you can say that again eh
start by moving the medivac machines back to there respective hangers will help some, and then adhearing to the yellow lines each side of the terminal.
time to see who gets boxed in first
wonder how long PAG's ground crew is going to take to turn the jet when there own machines are on the ground......

Canadian North operated a 737 outta Thompson twice daily for years, not sure when they stopped, they were there forsure between 90 and 94 , so sometime after that. The ramp was just as busy then with Calm air's twotters, Navajo, 748's, and saabs even they had a Kingair back then, as well as Skywards 25+ A/C's. I wouldn't so much about the gong show on the ramp more the gong show for the arriving a departing aircraft. I've had more too close for comfort encounters there than any other airport and yet the tower still remains FSS.

You think it's bad in YTH? Check out out Grande Prairie, or Fort Mac sometime. On the other hand, Villeneuve has a big, fancy control tower with no commercial pax service and a handful of flight school flights a day. Apparently, the tower there was a result of a Liberal spending project back in the 80's.mbav8r wrote: I wouldn't so much about the gong show on the ramp more the gong show for the arriving a departing aircraft. Time to re-allocate some ATC assets maybe?

Funny or scary, YMM and YQU are two of the main places I'm going into these days, so far no problems anywhere near as bad a YTH but maybe just getting there at a slow time. Have TCAS now so that should help as long as transponders are.wannab wrote:

Look at YTH's ramps back in the summer of 2003 during the big fire. We were handling about 300-350 movements a day and both the north and south ramps looked like a parking lot from all the firefighting planes plus the normal skyward, perimeter and calm air flights. It really can't get much worse than that.

hey, research your facts before you open your mouth. you just made yourself an ignorant moron.wannabatp wrote:You think it's bad in YTH? Check out out Grande Prairie, or Fort Mac sometime. ZVL has 65,000 movements a year. 60,000 is the official line for requiring a tower.
YTH has 35,000
and for reference, YMM did 62,000 last year
end of story.
Boy you sure couldn't have responded to his thread with out name calling huh?thatdaveguy wrote: hey, research your facts before you open your mouth. you just made yourself an ignorant moron.

Rectum, damn near killed 'em
For my part, I guess I'll apologize if I've somehow offended you. I didn't realize it was such a touchy subject for some.thatdaveguy wrote:hey, research your facts before you open your mouth. you just made yourself an ignorant moron.

I'll admit, I have no empirical evidence to support my views and opinion.
However, I've spent a lot of time in Fort Mac and a fair amount of time in Thompson. I've been to ZVL and YQU a few times each.
It still seems to me though, and this was the point, that the only movements I'VE ever seen at ZVL are of the flight school/puddle jumper variety. 2x3500ft runways (another extravagance?) No jets, no helos, no turboprops, no FBO apart from the flight school and certainly no sched service, as evidenced by the johnny-on-the-spot which passes for a "terminal" there. I've been to much smaller country airports which had MUCH better facilities and amenities (apart from the control tower). As opposed to YQU, YMM and even YTH, which have all of the above EXCEPT a control tower. (I will admit though, that the FSS guys in YQU seem to like run things as if it were tower'd though).
65,000 movements a year? There must be a heck of a lot of training going on there. That Citabria they have there must really be busy.
In any case, my point was simply to point out that there still seems to be an uneven distribution of ATC resources across this country. It seems to me to be a bit of a waste to have a full control tower just to serve the needs of what is essentially a flight school, no matter how busy it is.
As far as making myself an ignorant moron, if you knew me, you would know that I have no problem accepting that mantle when it's warranted. However, as you don't, would you kindly keep your oafish and hamhanded personal attacks to yourself? Thanks.
End of story
hey bigfss
quit your whinning - you get free trips as it is...
oh ya and dosn't the wify gets you passes anyways.
once a day service dosn't help the buisness men that want in and out as fast as they can though
the TI and the Burtwood are such good chain hotels, the bed checks would cause me to want out also
