TWA Upper Management, what a JOKE

Post by flaps 10 props 85 »

The operations manager fired up the Sabb with prop ties and pugs in the other day. She didn't even have a clue that the prop wasn't turning when she hit the starter. Poor rampies were dodging flying parts all over the place. Then the Northern Chief Pilot, who lives in Toon town and flies the Saab taxied it over to the terminal with the cargo door open and the pogo stick in. Somewhere along the way the pogo fell out, poor rampies again had to trace all the way bag to the hangar line to find his pogo stick. If you are missing any freight it is probably out on the ramp at some airport !! Way to lead by example guys.

Wow. Seems you have an axe to grind with TWA, but I won't comment on that.

So pilots make mistakes. I don't know the specifics of what happened, I wasn't there. Anyone here who has any kind of experience and says they haven't made a mistake is a liar. Why don't we all try to learn something, and take incidents like these as a reminder of what can happen if we try to rush things. When you get in too much of a hurry you forget to do important things, like walkarounds. Nuff said.

You definitely lose some of the finer points when you're not flying every day. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but it's easy to point the finger.

I knew a guy who started the right engine on the DC-3 with the nose board in place once. Didn't do a helluva lot for the alcohol slinger ring. :)

Nope not me. the guy your thinking of is down in the Maldives. The same Northern CP started and taxied the T/O from the hanagr to the terminal with the plug still in. He had to get a ladder out and crawl in the intake to get it out. Pretty funny site, just the little guys feet hanging out. LOL !!

If this is how senior management operate around airplanes, what kind of judgement do they have hiring pilots?

so i guess some of you guys have never ever make a dumbass mistake in your career?

must be nice, its all i can do to keep the retard moments to one a week or less... someday maybe ill be as good as you.

its one thing to make fun of someone for doing something dumb - infact its probably mandatory, but everyone gets their turn to look like a moron. and if you haven't yet, then you get to look forward your time in the idiot-spotlight.

Perhaps the Ops Manager has made a mistake, but it's no worse than your amazing grammatical skills you've shown in that post! Way to lead by example, eh?

In that particular incident ...

- The plugs weren't in
- Yes, the prop tie was destroyed, but no rampies around to run for their life like you said
- The Ops Manager was in the right seat, couldn't see the prop not turning when engaging the #1 starter seeing as how they are on the other side of the a/c and not the one acually starting the a/c...

Yes it sucked, and it was a mistake, but it's pretty easy to take shots at someone when you don't even know what happened
