Yeah, once in 1978 and the trip cancelled before I got to the airport. Haven't worked a Christmas since! :D

Four hours yesterday, four hours today, and another four tomorrow. Apparently mining gold is profitable enough to continue throughout Christmas.

Ah, somebody has to do it.

I'm still on call for the rest of the night so I'm not answering this question out of pure superstition.

Mmm, let's see;

My boss leaves for a tropical paradise each year with his corporate jet and wants the airplane with him. He insists on having pilots that have no young children assigned to the trip. He pays for my wife to follow me in business class (first class if it's in the south pacific). He puts us in an very high end all inclusive resort (+plus I still get my per diem). Why would I not work at Xmas? Unfortunately, this year was not my turn.

Truth is, to each his/her own. Nothing wrong with choosing to work or being forced to work. It's life.

Didn't work on Xmas, but did 9 hrs on BoxingDay

Good points Fougapilot. If I had your job, I'd work XMAS too!

However, where I work, there is no overtime pay, time and a half or any incentive to fly. It's just a normal day at the office.

Trust me my friend, those days are in the not so distant past for me.

Aviation is a weird world. For the first half of you career, you work your ass off for little pay and sad working conditions. All of a sudden, out of nowhere it switches around. You work less (or little in my case with my 250hrs per year) and have working conditions that more then compensate for the hardship life has thrown at you.

Funny world ours is.

Best for 008

I have yet to miss christmas whilst being in aviation.

However.. I can count on one hand the number of times my fathers been home over the past 24 years.

All the more reason for me to never go airline!!!

I flew by choice. But I guess thats what one does when one has no life and is trying to join the ranks of the flying professionals out there.

Safe flying everyone
