Thought the 705 looked pretty nice... but this thing seems somewhat awkward to me.

Looks like a Turbo Dildo.
Is it articulated like a transit bus so it can make it around corners?
Who will be the first pilot to put the rear wheels in the dirt?
Does that mean the pilots arrive before the passengers?
Is there an echo in the cabin?
Are the cookie pushers on roller skates and do they get paid mileage?
When they rotate on take-off, does the cockpit go IFR before the wheels leave the pavement?
Will Airbus 380's trip over the damn things?
Will they always be under foot?
Will the fuslage bend after a firm landing?
Will it wiggle when you pound it on?
Lots of things to think about.

The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Re: Pics of the new RJ1000
I like, and if the preformance numbers are true so will airlines. One can boast about the EMB being more comfortable but we all know that the airline industry is about making the most money with the least overhead. Bombardier seems to understand that. These new NexGen CRJs (700, 900 and 1000) are suppossed to have "real" overhead bins too which will make them much nicer to ride on.

Re: Pics of the new RJ1000
Is it just me or is the term 'next gen' worn itself out. Once they start making it, its no longer 'next gen' but 'current gen'. Would have been just as cliche as calling it 'RJ Extreme' or the 'iPlane 1000'. Ok, end of rant, back to playing my next gen xbox on my next gen tv, then into my next gen car to go to work.
Re: Pics of the new RJ1000
Are functioning flaps an option or would they come standard?

Re: Pics of the new RJ1000
Great another executive mailing tube to "enhance" the traveling experience

Re: Pics of the new RJ1000
If that's the case, then why has Bombardier been considering developing the C series, a "100 seat airliner", when they've been able to stretch the RJ to that same capacity? Why spend billions developing a new model if you can stretch an existing model, as they have done here, to the same capacity? (Aside from the fact that going up against Boeing, Airbus, and Embraer is an idiotic idea to begin with.)
Great another executive mailing tube to "enhance" the traveling experience
Etc. etc....What is this thing It is some butt ass ugly. that RJ should be called "can you say tail strike"
This thread perfectly represents the pathetic big business bashing, self depreciating Canadian attitude that hurts the industry so much.
Bombardier's CRJ line has been quite successful. The CRJ 1000 adds another configuration to that successful line and will offer an improved interior and commonality with the 700 and 900 and derivatives.
As far as the C series is concerned, it's a longer term project that will introduce fly by wire and ultra efficiency as well as a more comfortable cabin. Not a simple feat especially without government support just like Airbus, Boeing and Embraer enjoy. Yes, Bombardier has been government subsidized and will continue to be if it's expected to be competitive. Bombardier has also employed a butt load of people and with the exception of a couple of programs, has given the Canadian taxpayer a return on it's investment.
I certainly don't want to prevent people from speaking their minds, but all this uninformed flaming of our primary national aircraft manufacturer doesn't help anyone. It just re-enforces many negative Canadian stereotypes.
Sad.

What kind of a/c is that behind the T-4 (green one with red star on the tail)?
Looks like a WWII Japanese suicide plane.

Re: Pics of the new RJ1000
Thats one of those early jets they made right after WWII by basically sticking a German jet engine in the nose of a propeller driven plane. Cant think of the name right away but might be a Yak-15 or something like that
That would be one damn cool museum to visit btw!

I really think if this went forward BBD could take advantage of today's new technology and build a product better than EMB.
Singapore 2008: Bombardier hopes for CSeries launch this year
By Leithen Francis
Bombardier will have to launch the CSeries programme this year if it is to achieve its entry into service target of 2013.
The regional aircraft maker’s VP of marketing and communications, Trung Ngo, stopped short of saying when the aircraft maker would launch the CSeries programme but says “a decision has to be taken in 2008” if it is to meet the 2013 entry into service target. Trung was speaking to Flight today at the Singapore Airshow.
He says Bombardier has already completed the negotiations with engine maker Pratt & Whitney on the technical and commercial terms for the engine deal.
Bombardier has selected the P&W Geared Turbofan engine for the CSeries.

"Has been" is the key phrase there. RJ sales have tanked in the last few years.CID wrote:This thread perfectly represents the pathetic big business bashing, self depreciating Canadian attitude that hurts the industry so much.

The summer before last, P&W refused to even submit an engine spec for the C Series, because they viewed it as such a risky project, so don't point the finger at me for being negative. I don't know what's changed in order to bring them back to the table.
After all, only a nutjob would try and compete against the most successful model of all time (737), whose sales are second only to the 320 family -- also a roaring success.
Add to that the relatively recent arrival of Embraer's 170/190 (which AC chose over the CRJ), and there is no space left in the market for Bombardier's C Series.
I'm not being anti-Canadian, I'm being realistic.
