Suspicious PM

Post by ragbagflyer »

I recieved this pm the other day. Anyone else advertising a plane get a similar message?

Hello SIr,

I came across your aircraft ads here during my search for a an aircraft and i am very happy to find exactly the type and the product that i have been wanting to buy but couldn't really find enough time to check in the aviation market for a purchase .now that i have already find this type in the ads website,it will interest me to know if you still have this aircraft available for sale.if you still have it ready for sale, kindly inform me about the current condition and the price of the aircraft and i will be glad to negociate the price with you and commence transaction as soon as possible.
Thank You.

Kind Regards,
Dr.Alex.

It's a variation on the Nigerian scam, which in turn is run by a secret committee of federal Conservative fundraisers operating out of a poolhall in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia.

Here's the site from the guy who's taking the fight back to the scammers. Some of the stories are pretty funny.

I got the same PM from "alexben" on two of the aircraft that I have advertised. I responded to the first PM with some additional information (none personal) that he requested. Then I noticed the same PM for the second aircraft. This is what he sent in response....

"Thank you very much for your reply..i will be writing you later to make offer because i am still at work right now so when i got your reply i decided to drop you a short message.
Thanks you.
Dr.Alex."

He sounded serious....and writes like a pilot!!!!!!!! :smt040

It's funny, two out of my three aircraft seem to be just what he's looking for. Wonder what he didn't like about the floatplane... :smt017
