Training bond
Need opinions about training bond!
What do you think about a 10 000$ / 2 years training bond for a PIC PPC on a twin turbine aircraft.
You don't have to put the money on the table but sign an agreement that If you leave before the term you have to pay for the prorata.

Sounds like a fair deal to me... but is it pro-rated?
Flight safety courses these days will run about double that for a level D sim.
Don't forget to read the fine print!

I want to die like my grandfather did, peacefully in his sleep. Not screaming in terror like his passengers...
10 K for 2 years is alittle steep, but not unheard of. make sure it's pro rated and that if they lay you off, your not stuck with the bond. Is it a light twinn turbine or over 12500? If you dont think you could move on in the next 2 years why not?

10K over 2 years is very steep for a king air, 5K for 1 year pro rated would be more reasonable. But you didn't say king air did you?
For a 19hundie or a Jetstream that'd be more like it. Is it pro rated at all? ie. if you leave 80% of the way through the contract, are you liable for 100% of the cost, or only the remaining 20%?

I agree with you all! Sounds pretty fair...especially if the company's OK!
It's good to see that aviators in Canada are coming to terms with training bonds! I personally hate them, but there is no question that training bonds (and promisary notes) are the way of the future!
