Any skydivers on here?
I have some questions.
How do you know when your half way through a date with a Pilot? When they say "enough talk about flying, lets talk about me!"

Re: Any skydivers on here?
I've been once. Trying to get over my fear of heights...Didn't work out as planned. It made it somewhat worse.

Re: Any skydivers on here?
Ok, I'll start.
1) ARE YOU NUTS?
2) Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?
3) Do you have a death wish or something?
4) Are you going to finish that?
5) Is there something wrong with your head or were you born without any sense?
6) A train leaves Vancouver headed for Halifax at 6:30 am on the 15th of January. Another train leaves Halifax headed to Vancouver at 6:45 am on the 31st of February. There are an even number of cars on the westbound train and an odd number of cars on the eastbound train. The trains can reach a speed of 15 gigafathoms per decade if heading downhill into the sun but only 7 millimeters per millisecond when traversing water drenched tracks. If one conductor is named Steve and another is named Fred but only on Sundays, how many seagulls will the third slowest train pass during the celebration of Festivus? Answer in essay form and show your work.
7) Finally, are you sure your aren't nuts?

Re: Any skydivers on here?
I've made 63 jumps back in the 70's. Had two malfunctions in that time.
I'm really crap at two activities, skydiving and golf. I quit skydiving, the consequences of being crap at golf are only monetary.

Re: Any skydivers on here?
If you've seen some of the skydiving machines I have you wouldn't ask question (2) and question (1) and (7) would then be better asked of the pilot. I know I asked myself that question a few times while strapping in.Pratt X 3 wrote:Ok, I'll start.

I used to jump many years ago at DZ Buxton at CFB Namao. Never jumped with a square chute, just PC's and C-9's and once with a T-10. Found it rather boring after a while. Acro is much more fun.

You haven't seen the airplane2) Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?
That's a good point, I mean compared to the sense of people who pay money or devote their lifetime to go hurtling through the sky at 500 miles per hour 35,000 feet above the ground through an atmosphere dearth of enough air pressure to maintain consciousness for more than five seconds in a pressurized aluminum tube filled more than half its weight over with kerosene, skydivers must have a few loose screws.5) Is there something wrong with your head or were you born without any sense?
On Tuesdays, yes- but only if it's metric gigafathoms we're talking about.6) A train leaves Vancouver headed for Halifax at 6:30 am on the 15th of January. Okay,
Question: How do you get these bastards out of your airplane?
Answer: Tell them you just ran out of peanuts.

Re: Any skydivers on here?
Q: Why would you jump out of a perfectly good airplane?
A: If it was a perfectly good airplane, it would not be at a Drop Zone.
Q: How do you get these bastards out of your airplane?
A: Ask if they really want to land in this plane. There is a reason why all my passengers get out at the top.

Re: Any skydivers on here?
Over 100 jumps. First one free because I was a jump pilot. C-180, C-182, Twin Otter, Skyvan, CASA 212, Bell 205, C-130. Hmmm, I've flown most of the fixed wing of those types as well.
The coolest part is usually the initial jump out as you see the aircraft while you are falling away. Freefall, nothing special to me. Lots of noise if you don't have earplugs. Then a nice relaxing quiet ride down under canopy....usually.
Very cool stuff on a nice day.

Re: Any skydivers on here?
I did a tandem last fall. I think the the only thing that could top a free fall is a space shuttle, won't hold out for that one. I would like to do the Accelerated Free Fall (AFF) course. I visited the drop zone in Pitt Meadows and the one in Abbotsford. I am leaning towards the course in Abbotsford, the owners were really helpful, any opinions........................

What is really important, is not the DZ, but the (riggers) packers! All Sides wrote:I did a tandem last fall.
