I was thinking the same thing.

This corporation is a joke. This is not a corporate gig it's a guy with who needs some cheep labour and is willing to dangle a flying carrot.

I need some painting done on my house, maybe I should post a corporate flying gig too.

I read that you could either

A) Be a contract pilot on call
B) Be a full time employee with duties as described
or C) Discuss other...

What's wrong with having options?

Just ensure you charge your time accordingly.

Mr Flogger and Mr. Bobby, feel free to not apply. Adam Oke is exactly correct, there are various compensation options available for discussion. The pay is far above minimum wage for "dangling the carrot" as you say, and this is what he has to offer. He is not going to pay 60k for someone to fly his plane 120-150 hrs per year like I am sure you would demand!! Its just not realistic. However, he is willing to offer year round employment on salary if the person is willing to do other jobs or if not then the successful candidate can just strictly work contract and only flying. I had the choice and I chose the year round guaranteed salary as it gave me an opportunity to live at home with my wife, pay off my debts, and get paid 12 months of the year instead of shuffling north for the summers and trying to scrounge together money in the winters when collecting pogey...I choose not to live off the system thank you. The jobs that I did were extremely varied, but I also had the option to say no, so if you don't like that idea, then frankly, I dont give a rats ass....like I said, dont apply. There were also a significant amount of perks that I care not to mention here.

Edit: BTW Mr. Flogger, can you highlight in my ad where I said that those "Skills" were "Necessary"!!!! Thank you.

Funny, there was a corporate Jet job posted just last week that included an additional note of "pilot will be required to be in the sales office during down time" (paraphrase) but that didnt raise your eyebrows? So because its a float gig doing some extra chores, that gets your panties in a bunch?? How is it different from working as a dock hand or rampie and gettig some flying time?? At least you get to fly and log PIC hrs on an amphib beaver.

I really hate to bring this ridiculous thread back to the top, but I guess some people just can't read or have a serious comprehension problem, so let me try and put it in simpler terms for people like NB who sent me the most assinine email I have seen in a long time!

This job, at 120-150hrs/yr, is not enough flying hours to be a full time job in itself so in essence a PART TIME job. HOWEVER, the owner is in a position to MAKE it a full time job if it is under AGREEABLE terms. Some of you people are so overboard oblivious it really is unbelieveable!! Did you happen to notice that the words "MAY INCLUDE" was used very strategically in the ad? Did you know that "landscaping" meant sitting on a riding lawn mower for 3hrs at a time once or twice per week?? Is that really so over the top?? Get an f'ing clue of the real world or go back to hiding in your hole!

It is a hobby farm...4 horses and a Texas Longhorn Bull...I forgot to mention that once every 8 weeks I load the horses onto a 37' horse trailer and take them for a half hour drive to have a mennonite put new shoes on them while I sit in the truck and read avcanada for 3-4 hours...oh, the horrors of "farm work"

And Sorry Lloyd Christmas has already been spoken for when I drive. :D

I can see the requirement for a company pilot. How many times did I fly to dinners and golf or go-kart tournaments, and had to stick to drinking coffee, because I was flying back home. I would have loved a pilot at those times. :smt040

I'd apply for this in a heartbeat if I was living over there. Especially if this 60K I sniffed out of the chatter was for reals.

Phillyfan & cdnpilot77 have it right.

This company is offering a very flexible lifestyle. They say its your choice...be on contract as a pilot only OR if you prefer, you could work in the other part of our business if you are seeking a full time wage/job.

I cant believe how we post jobs on here.. and as Philly said we get attacked for it? I used to post ads on here all the time, until I ended up spending countless hours defending our company and our posted job ad. They were legitimate twin engine flying jobs with a decent 703 air service, and many attacked me personally for posting a job? I agree that only happens on this website for some crazy reason?

They are offering to make one less unemployed pilot in Canada, and we still find reasons to whine and complain. Otter...if you are who i think you are, im surprised this post upset you?? Also, you were a good boss! Just sayin...and hope all is well with you!

Fly safe all.

What a dumb thread. It sounds to me like a pretty good lifestyle job. Live in a nice area, fly a cool airplane once in a while and if you want to earn more than a PT salary, the boss will find some extra work for you.

This is what pisses me off about some pilots, nothing but complainers.

Bede,

I still cant believe I have given this thread as much time as I have...Kitchener is my hometown since I was 8yrs old. Reids field (look it up in the CFS) is 20 minutes from the house that my wife and I bought 5yrs ago, just before I moved into the North for 3 summer seasons, only to be laid off in the fall/winter. I was offered this spot, the chance to fly this airplane from this private airport, live at home with my wife, be home nearly every night (spent about 15-20 nights at the cottages/hotels in 18 months) have an extremely flexible shcedule that would have me work 60hrs some weeks, but 20hrs in others, have no expenses when travelling or working, can count on my fingers how many weekends I worked in the 18 months, be with my entire family, be with my wife through some very difficult times in her life and occasionally have permission to use the airplane for my own use....at no expense to me. I won't even get started on some of the other perks as these guys do not even deserve to hear it. But they included vacations and use of facilities etc etc...Stop me when I get to the part where "This corporation is a joke. This is not a corporate gig it's a guy with who needs some cheep labour and is willing to dangle a flying carrot"

Did I get rich?? of course not...I started this job at 620hrs with 400hrs on floats, 0 Beaver time and 0 Amphib time, had just received another winter layoff notice when I got the offer and as I literally just recived my T4, I made $37,440 doing it. How many of the cowboys here can say they had those perks, pay and sched at that stage in their career??? Honestly, this was one of the best jobs, and no doubt the easiest, I have ever had and as I mentioend it earlier, had I not gotten a huge opportunity with an extremely well regarded company, flying some fantastic airplanes, I would not be going anywhere.

I have personally dropped by the field a few times and been up in that Beaver. I wouldn't want the job either. Your own private strip, big heated hangar for the few months of winter here in SWO, lots of expensive toys, and fun things to keep you busy. Sounds lazy. They say good things come to good people, but cdnpilot77 definitely got screwed by karma here. This job could potentially make you soft and less of a man, and that's not what aviation is about! You get paid well for chilling in a limo when you're not flying? Why that's atrocious. You have to work hard for no money in this business don't you? I implore anyone who commented negatively to stay as far away from this operation as possible because you'll be right out of your comfort zone.
There are far better jobs for the 1000hr pilot, they're in such demand. Just head up to NWT. At least there you don't have to cut a lawn (the horror) because it's -40. Now that's living!

I'm gonna go bitch to the internet now about taxes.

I took a "Corporate" job and it has been great it does have its moments though. But since I have been involved they have given me the opportunity to fly many great airplanes . From single engine Cessna's both wheels, floats , amphibs to Turbine wheels, floats and amphibs and twins turbine and piston and amphibs.

I guess what I have to say If you fit the "Corporate Mold" you can have a rewarding flying experience. Oh yes they do pay not bad as well.

Enjoy your duties

Salary:

• There are a multitude of compensation setups that we are willing and able to explore. This could range from a strictly contract on-call flying position to a full time (2000hr/yr) position that would involve the various activities described above.
Guess some people missed this line? Pretty fair and simple.

People read and see what they want to read. I notice we haven't heard from the OP or other detractors since the start of the thread so I am assuming the are dutifully embarrassed by their lack of restraint or comprehension in posting on this and the other thread.
