Question about WESTJET AME's salary

Post by kenneth84 »

I am curious about pay scale for WESTJET (YYZ) newly licensed AMEs.

Does anyone have approximate idea for Hourly rate?

I know westjet has profit share plan and etc. I have no idea how it works.

Can anyone walk me through ?

Thanks.

Actually.... Our Tech Ops pay scales have been revised since that last thread. We are now more fairly compensated than previously.

Those are the projected numbers. They are not written in stone. You can only take the 2012 numbers to the bank. The rest of the numbers were projected based on market data from 2010. What you have to understand is Westjet goes and gets information from WCBC and take the numbers from comparators then takes the conference board of Canada's projected numbers for economic growth and mashes it up to come up with a structure change (2% this year). All of WestJet gets this structure change unless your particular work unit is deemed out of median, then at that time you are put into the "transition to market" scheme which basically "red circles" the top bands and then there may be a payout if WJ is profitable.

Now that I said that, We are one of the best paid AME groups in Canada now once you take in the total compensation: Salary, ESP, Profit share...

Does anyone know if this industry is set on 40hr work week, or is there plenty of overtime available? Thank You

The most OT bases are YYC & YYZ ...YVR & YEG you get overtime here and there if an aircraft is down or people are on vacation or call in sick but with YYC & YYZ which have the B Line checks are the most busy bases and also have alot of destinations right now YYZ tops that list we dispatch more aircrafts from there then any other base..

If they actually paid that much I wouldn't have turned them down.

I was also offered an AME position a couple months ago.
I knew the starting wage (not ACA) wasn't going to be great but i had heard that the ACA hourly rate would be a lot better with the new payscale....it actually went down.
The ACA rate they told me (talked to the line DOM, and HR) is nowhere near what the payscale above shows. I don't know if i was hired to go to the regional side and thats why it was lower??? I couldn't go back down to that rate for an extended time so I had to turn them down.

Wow, everybody seems to have all the answers....... Our ACA premium is not reflected in the AME pay Scale...

Wow nice to see a liveable wage being made now-a-days!

When I left the industry, back in the early 90's the pay was so bad and the available work so limited I left, went back to school and started a new career (no regrets) so it's nice to see it's better now!
