Calgary Hotels for Port Commuters

Post by elvis »

Has anyone approached YYC hotels close to the airport with a proposal to stay at their hotels a couple of times per month to cover those overnights between pairings or prior to a pairing.

Years ago in YYZ when we had a winter charter base there we approached several hotels on the strip with shuttle service and got excellent rates for 20 or so pilots that required 5 or so rooms per month.

I'm sure the WestJet port guys could easily give the hotels at least 50 nights per month ; with anywhere from 10 to 30 days advanced notice. I think the sales departments at the local hotels would welcome the possibility to bid on such a " contract" . I know in YYZ we were able to get rates much better than the airline was able to negotiate, however it would be difficult at Stampede or spring breaks

Next time your in your commuter hotel ask the sales department if they would be interested in such a proposal.

WHERE AND WHAT RATES ARE OUT THERE NOW IN YYC???

Westjet and Nationwide hospitality are way ahead of you, having negotiated rates for us in and around the YYC airport. Thanks for thinking of us.

Well that is what happened to us in YYZ years ago and as a small group we were able to secure much better rates than the company was quoted at hotels not on their lists. I think you might be surprised at the results if you pursue some rates as port commuters.
