Looks like Grupo TACA and Air Canada are looking towards additional competition. Saw a blurb on their intentions to inaugurate service to Canada in a Central American newspaper back in December when they announced orders for their Embraer 190's, the first of which are expected to arrive in the third-quarter of 2005.

True, all true. And yet Copa Airlines is on this prestigious list:

yycflyguy, as you probably know, one of Copa Airlines' tricks is to keep their FO's unmarketable by not giving them upgrades when Captain slots are available and they have the qualifications/aptitudes. Also, they fly on Panamanian licences (unlike the pilots of another Central American airline)-- so no 737 type on a FAA or other more recognized ICAO licence. Still, some of them do go elsewhere.
Actually, $34K is considerably higher than what I heard Copa Airlines FO's make. Back in the day, I understand that their Captains were making only slightly more than what we were.

I just meant that it's underpaid for a YYZ base. I think you'll find that COPA might end up hiring a "leftover" base manager as the others are benifiting from higher wages and benifits.Panama Jack wrote:True, all true. And yet Copa Airlines is on this prestigious list:
